Hillsborough - The Search for Truth

Very pleased the truth is finally out,I have had this discussion with family members over who was at fault,I always thought this was a major cover up.

how on earth have the police got anyway with changing
fans statements on such a large scale for so long ?

Amongst the shocking revelations contained this one is right up there:

Disclosed documents provide no rationale for the Coroner’s exceptional decision to
take samples for blood alcohol measurement from all of the deceased.
67. The implicit and explicit use of a blood alcohol level of 80mg/100ml as a marker
was unjustified. This level has relevance to the rapid response times of individuals
in charge of motor vehicles, but none to people attending a leisure event.
68. Analysis of the data demonstrates that the attempt to draw statistical correlation
between the time of arrival and alcohol level was fundamentally flawed in six
respects, and no such link could be deduced.
69. The weight placed on alcohol levels, particularly in the Coroner’s summing up at the
inquests, was inappropriate and misleading. The pattern of alcohol consumption
among those who died was unremarkable and not exceptional for a social or
leisure occasion.
70. A document disclosed to the Panel has revealed that an attempt was made to
impugn the reputations of the deceased by carrying out Police National Computer
checks on those with a non-zero alcohol level.
71. The disclosed documents show that blood alcohol levels were tested in some
survivors who attended hospital, as well as in all those who died. There is no record
of these tests or their results in the medical notes of survivors, and in some there
was no apparent medical reason for the test. The extent of this testing remains
unknown.
72. There was no evidence to support the proposition that alcohol played any part
in the genesis of the disaster and it is regrettable that those in positions of
responsibility created and promoted a portrayal of drunkenness as contributing to
the occurrence of the disaster and the ensuing loss of life without substantiating
evidence.

How did hillsboroug hosted the semi final when there was no safety certificate? I mean , there can be a legal action against them , i am sure FA can be sued here?

And FA still don't recognise their mistake , that statement was a shocker to be honest , no responsibility whatsoever or not even a mere apology

If the FA don't feel it's right & proper
to apologise for their part in H'Boro,
can they be considered fit to run english football?

An interesting fact is PBR ( LFC chief executive ) at that time asked fa to change the venue days before the disaster !!

You know this lot are going to jump on the bandwaggon and be in the vanguard for all the appeals and support campaigns.

This as has been said many times today is TOO LITTLE TOO LATE

As City fans and as a club we should 100% boycot the sun from our club!!

Lets get a campaign going for every football club to do the same/ Football is their bread and butter. If we could co-ordinate this at every club this rag would be out of business in a week. The paper needs football and fans that buy the rag more than they need it. They would be out of business in a week, that would be a real victory and part justice for the 96.

The Manc & Merseyside clubs organised one together in 1989 - leaflets handed out etc. and sales of the Sun dropped significantly, mostly in Liverpool of course, but also in Manchester. Since 1989 I have never bought the Sun, nor will I ever buy it, but I guess as time's moved on people have grown up without knowing what the paper did back then.

I'm all for freedom of speech and so on, but Murdoch should do to the Sun what he did to the NOTW. Unbelievable that he launched the Sun on Sunday as a hallmark of good journalism when he'd pulled the plug on the NOTW.

As individuals we have a right to choose, but hopefully there are enough people out there to realise that the Sun & NOTW style of reporting should not be encouraged. We need 'The Truth' not cover-ups and lies.
Not sure why only the Sun is being villified here, didn't most of the newspapers repeat the same lies? I thought the only difference was that the Sun reported them under the headline "The Truth".

Mick Dennis was on sky this morning mentioning this
One was the mirror the other was another red top

He just said they had a small column and only used quotes used by other people.

I apologised on this thread last night about my ignorance and opinion for a long time that it was the Liverpool fans fault. I have been proven wrong and I feel ashamed that many of those fans died because of a monumental cock up by police etc. A rag text me last night and to quote...

"I see it's mourning day in Liverpool again-What about justice for the Juventus fans?".

I was shocked as I have known this guy for a long time and for a rag has always been not to bad. I told him that his opinion has been formed by the media/reports etc and his fellow rags. Hillsborough has nothing to do with heysel so just leave it alone. I asked him how he would feel if his 10yr old son had gone off happily to watch his team, only to be brought home in a coffin.

The silence was deafening.
It is a point of note that there are Liverpool fans who have got away with being part of the blame for the deaths of fans at Heysel. There was a blog or article (posted on here by an Everton fan, written by a Liverpool fan, holding his hands up saying he was part of the group who was running wild that night and he was part of the fault for why Juventus fans died.

Numerous dick heads have got away scott free as nothing has ever come about as a result of the actions of some that night.

But as you say, Heysel is not Hillsbororugh. They are two distinct things. Hillsborough was not retribution for Heysel as many wanker fans of many clubs in this country think. What happened at Hillsborough was terrible and what happened afterwards was almost as terrible with the cover up.

But isn't it just like some United fans to have that outlook. "well Liverpool fans used to sing Munich songs so we'll sing about Hillsborough" "well Leeds fans used to sing Munich songs so we'll sing about Istanbul"... Pathetic!

Hopefully now those who have been uncovered can be prosecuted for their crimes for what happened at Hillsborough. Justice for those families will finally come.

I still think they should also be copping some of the flak.
