Holiday advice

We’ve come to the decision to book nothing for a few years, next summer was out anyway, however we wanted to go to Disney in early 2022 but looking at what is closed there it hardly seems worth it, they are charging you full price for half the entertainment. Still carrying on saving so should have a small fortune when all this is over.

Ah right, yeah he needs to wait for Jet2 to cancel them (which they should do if the FCO advice is against travel)
At the moment they have only cancelled through to 20th Sept for Crete/Zante so they will likely announce further cancellations next week if nothing has changed.

I thought in your initial comment that Jet2 had cancelled flights but only offered credit, my bad haha

Squeaky bum time for those of us with things booked :)
I believe they are still flying to Crete despite FCO saying otherwise. You can amend dates but not cancel/get a refund. At least that's what I found on their twitter page.

Edit: They've cancelled package holidays not flights only.

I've got a Jet2 rep at work I can badger if they don't play ball on my flight only. Would hope they will do the right thing though.

So today appears to be mainland Portugal and Denmark going on the Q list.

It's all fun and games.

Further to post 1168. We submitting a further four attempts for flight delay claim compensation as per EU Regulations (EC261) and on each occasion TUI were unable to find us on their manifest. However this morning we have secured the desired result using exactly the same details previously supplied. Huzzar!

Dear Gunny.
Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us regarding your flight delay claim for flight TOM**** on **/08/2020 from ** to MAN.

I appreciate that delays can impact your enjoyment and comfort whilst travelling with us. I would like to reassure you that while we try our very best to ensure we get you on holiday and home again as close to your original planned times as possible, despite our best efforts, delays can happen on occasion.

I’m happy to confirm that as a result of the delay – as per EU Regulations (EC261) – Mr Gun and Mrs Gun are entitled to €400 / £356.00 per passenger. This equates to a total of £712.00 compensation.

Your payment will be processed in the form of a cheque and sent to the address provided when you submitted your claim.

** Please note – our claim and cheque processing times are currently slower than normal, this is due to the significant increase in contact volumes across our Contact Centres. We would ask for your patience at this unsettling time, we are working hard to handle each claim as we receive it and expect the processing time to be around 45 days from submission. We would ask for your support by refraining from contacting us regarding your payment unless this 45 day period has passed **

For further information regarding the EC261 legislation and your eligibility, please visit our website here.

We hope to welcome you on board again soon.

Once again, thank you again for contacting us.
Yours sincerely,
TUI Airways

If any members suffer an extended flight delay then EC legislation states you are entitled to be compensated. A lot of well traveled folk are more than aware of this, but many are not. Compensation is determined by distance and the amount of delay suffered. There are companies on the internet that will work on your behalf at a cost, but dealing directly with the airline secures the quickest result and patience and resilience is the watchword. I was quite happy to keep pinging the claim back to them indefinitely as I have a lot of time on my hands these days plus it kept me focused. Anyway well done TUI for your eventual compliance with the EC directive. It goes without saying that we shall not be mithering you for the compo so feel free to pop your drop dead gorgeous cheque in the post whenever you get the time. Confirmation of claim was all we initially wanted. As an addendum we shall immediately reinvest it with your splendid company on another overseas jollie.

My mate just got a return call from Jet2 saying Crete and Zante flight cancellations are being refunded. Jet2 reps have just got the info, I can't see it published anywhere yet though on the website.

Can take 28 days to get the money but if you can get through on the phone they do it in 5 days.

Is your mate a flight only customer? We are due to fly only with Jet2 on Sunday to Crete and have been told the flight is still going ahead, unless we choose to amend to a later date.

Think I'm going to call them late afternoon today and see if there's any change if and when the Government say anything today.

Flight only customer. He booked 22nd to 29th, I was going to meet him out there later on.

I thought it was just a nice rep refunding him but apparently he's now got an actual email from Jet2 confirming flights aren't going ahead so maybe you've received it by now too.

Yeah just got the same email now, we we're 25 to 28th.
I'll put in for a refund, and then need to contact TUI about the hotel but seems they are refunding them too?

I'll give them til 4pm and give them a call, as haven't received an email saying it's cancelled. At this stage we are inclined to go and quarantine on return; have found alternative accom to the one cancelled by Tui. Just don't want to be left stranded out in Crete if Jet2 cancel our return flight.

Edit - just received an email from Jet2. Outgoing flight is still going ahead but return flight now cancelled and refunded. Thanks for that. Will call up and try and book an outgoing flight in the new year, like a hole in the head this. Feel more sorry for my Mrs who's been locked inside working for 6 months, with only a weekly visit to the supermarket to look forward to.
