Holiday advice

We are in a World Pandemic, that means applying common sense, I agree we have a worse infection rate than the Balaerics so why travel to their part of the World potentially spreading the virus to a place with which as you correctly pointed out has a relative low infection rate. Works both ways chap, holidays are a luxury, in these times IMO it is a luxury that we should not be contemplating doing until we have a vaccine.

Then we should immediately without let or hindrance close down every single place of leisure, place of social interaction and sport in order to combat this viral menace. You cannot fully contain covid unless you apply full lockdown measures to the whole populace and our government and most of the governments of the world are not advocating this. Either the engine room is reignited or it is not and I shall happily comply with all legislation shoveled my way, but I shall also read between the lines regarding my governments handling of the crisis which has been beyond the shambolic and shall evaluate carefully our own survival plans in order that we may live to see the mass reopening of our Stadia in October.

My comment wasn't about what the Govt. have done or instructed us to do, they got it wrong. I don't need a Govt. or quango to tell me what to do I apply common sense to everything I do, as you do by the look of your first post. I just do not understand why people currently think it's a good idea to go on a holiday to continental Europe. I would be livid if I was a local born and bred Spanish chap with underlying health problems that avoided Covid first time round seeing tourist from countries with higher infection rate on their jollies sat in their favourite bar drinking.

I'm planning to come home soon but have to remain indoors for two weeks on my return to Ireland. No intention of going anywhere except the house i'm staying at whilst i'm in the UK. I made the decision to keep my travel plan secret from my employer as I can work remotely for the required 14 days after return. It might be considered selfish but ultimately there is only so long I am willing to go without seeing my family.

A fair analogy concerning the ailing Spaniard. However do we not become embroiled simply by watching football on TV. Just because an individual is not coming into contact with these brave sports personal it does not make it right by certain methodology. The footballers have mothers and fathers who worry about their well being and if folk watch them ply their trade for pleasure then in essence are they not in danger of becoming a part of the masquerade. A haircut. a pint, a trip to the supermarket for anything non essential, a trip down the gym a run in the park. Everything we do or pursue at the moment brings with it consequence, so either we continue to ignite the engine room or we shut down and there lies the dilemma.

I had backed this government but enough is enough.
Seriously wtf? Tenerife is 1250 Miles away from Madrid and has barely any infections just like most of the Canary islands.
Does anyone in Whitehall have a map?
Their should be a travel corridor between the Canaries and the UK.
People are fed up and deserve a fucking break away from this shithole of a country.
Absolutely disgusting decision from this clueless government.

Totally agree with all you say, we need it in all this madness that surrounds us however, it should be within the confines of our own borders for now.

These people whinging on tv about it all, you took the chance knowing there is a possibility this would happen, tough shit, The government can’t win no matter what they do, travel industry screaming for bridgeheads then when it goes tits up, it’s the governments fault. No it’s not, there’s a worldwide fucking pandemic is it really worth it for 7 days of sun a booze, about time people took responsibility for their own actions

A lot safer than staying here
