Holiday advice

Had seen them replying to people on Twitter. I just received an email from Tui now saying they've cancelled my hotel.

Jet2 have emailed offering to go ahead with the flights or we can amend them to a later date. I'm tempted to go and source other accommodation or via the Mrs who has family over there; decisions decisions. Been a bit of a silly twat as we were all set to fly to Athens and hop on an island from there, but I chose this deal as it was too good to turn down. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

They said on the phone it was open to the 15th October. The agent input 5 days from the 10th to be sure and it displayed availability. What dates were you due to stay at the Lagoon Princess?

The price from other booking sites was around £130 a day for All Inc. So £18 a day was looking a little suss or the bargain of the decade. They are still offering it as a package holiday on the 7th October for 5 nights using the same Easy Jet flights for £449 but £160 DIY sounded way better. They are still accepting bookings for 5 nights on the 7th @£90 so a little bit naughty ?

You should be sound on Halkidiki mate, with it not being on the quarantine list? We had booked Crete for this coming weekend for 10 days.

My bad, thought you meant the hotel the goat was staying at in Halkidiki. and wondered why they were still advertising it.

Cheers for that, might book Thessaloniki with Easyjet too then. Worst case it's two credit vouchers which I'm sure I'll use in the next year.
I've been on the phone to tui and they've given a full refund.
I've booked flights to Thessaloniki now for the 30th - 7th, £56 each and will book the blue lagoon princess closer to the time if it's not added to the list. If it's all goes to plan will be a total of £404 for the 2 of us.

Glad to hear you've got your money back. That's still a great price for a week, let's hope it all goes to plan.

I'm still looking to book Thessaloniki for 23rd to 30th. Either £80 with Easyjet or £65 with Ryanair, probably book whichever is cheaper a couple of days before.

Blue Lagoon is expensive for the week I'm looking at but I'm sure I'll find some sort of last minute deal on a hotel.

I was looking at that week too but with the reduced cost for the week after and being able to shift holidays at work made sense to take the saving although the missus is intent on upgrading to the room with a jacuzzi on the terrace at another £200.
I'm sure you'll pick up something cheap in the halkidiki area. Good luck.

I'd go with Easyjet if the difference in cost is minimal.

You get a proper hand luggage allowance with them, and they are marginally better to deal with than Ryanair.

Anyone staying in the Blue Lagoon Princess before 7th October, please do let me know what it's like :)

Just got my £180 back off Ryanair only about 2 week wait, was impressed really. Still waiting for my virgin refund though which is at around 4 months now!

For anyone staying at the Blue Lagoon princess, I've just booked our airport-hotel arrival transfer and this was the cheapest private one I could find, 55 EUR

They confirmed it within 2 mins via email, pay driver cash on arrival.

Think shared transfers start at around £17pp so if 3 of you it makes sense for a taxi and even just 2 people it's not much more than faffing about with a coach.

Not sure if you can cancel, if you can try 'get transfers' I've got a price of 93 euro return. Used code mt7 to get that.

Yeah can cancel ours, only problem is my mate returns the day before me so we only need the private one way on arrival.
Will check them out and see what price they can do for that, cheers.

Edit....£61 one way was the offer for us, so we'll stick with the 55 Euro one. 93 return is very decent though, if my mate didn't have to return a day early for work we'd be all over that.

Edit again....it's thrown us a £41 transfer now haha in an 8 seater minivan

Good price that.

Advice for Greece

1. Do not spend thousands on fancy booze.
Mythos bottled or draft is the stuff to drink
2. Beware of Albanians carrying straws.
3. Do not fight with policemen.
4. Do not offer policemen money
5. Do not accuse Greek policemen of being liars.
6. Avoid any resorts described as 'lively'.
7. Have a great time and come home safe.

Also be very aware of any Greeks bearing gifts - especially in the shape of a horse

I would have shifted to the week after if I could but I'd lose around £500 from work so it makes sense to stick to the week before.

Haha treat yourself, only holiday you'll probably get all year so make the most of it. Now we pray that the government doesn't fuck us all over...

I only got back from 2 weeks in Greece last week, and have Portugal and canaries booked later in the year! I have an issue with booking holidays, it's an addiction.

The carthorse and his mates are no longer there. They should have been returned in disgrace but became victims instead.
I hope the police and prosecutor make a Trojan effort to pot him for the lies he has told.
