Holidays

Just pulled another last minute September deal from The Haven @seven nights for a ton, so £7.14 per night per person and you'd not be going in a fox hole for that.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle. this earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, this other Eden, demi-paradise.
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England

Looking at the check in time there's some sort of bump afoot as Saver check ins are nearly almost 17:00 and above

This 100 quid thing for a week in Mablethorpe Bob, do you pay them or do they pay you ?

:)

Sounds pretty shit mate, how are the prices for food & drink?

We're over in the next international break at Maleme (otherside of Chania to you).
Currently in a Villa up the hill from Georgioupoli and had dinner on the beach in Almyrida last night! :-) Oven baked pizza. Was pretty good, but took forever! Nice little town.

Can recommend SunLight Cafe and Mythos restaurant on the fountain square in Georgioupoli! Also, if you’re looking for a brilliant deal, try the Gyro place ne t to SunLight! 4€ for a face full of pork or chicken gyro with a few chips! Had them twice already!

If you wanted sun, you should have gone to the south coast like we did! 1 hr drive over the mountains (good road, new in places) and clear as a bell!! Beautiful day of sun and surf at Ammoudi Beach, with Damnoni right next door! Beautiful drive through the Kourtaliotiko Gorge to get there and back. It was a bit like Hawaii…rugged (albeit mostly dry) mountains dropping you down into small beach towns with beautiful blue water and beach coves.

(Tried to drop in a few pics, but says they’re too big!)
Had a fun afternoon at Lake Kournas the other day, too. Lunch (excellent pork chop!) at To Mati Tis Limnis (service - meh, food - great!) and an hour in the pedalo to burn it off and go see the turtles!

Venetian Fortezza Castle in Rethymno is pretty spectacular and the town is a bustling seaside town. Had a nice wander and a decent lunch at Noble on the beachfront.

If you’re still here, Tuesday weather is going to be outstanding…27°C/80°F, but a bit breezy! What we call bad sunburn weather in Florida!

Only question now is hang around by the pool at the villa or head to a beach?! Got to make sure we are in a good location for England vs Scotland tonight!

Currently in Almyrida Crete . Had a week of diabolical weather, constant dark cloud strong winds and rain showers. The road outside our hotel has been flooded for 2 days , approx just 4 hours of sun all week and now gale force winds today. Locals and ex pats saying they have never experienced a weeks weather like it in over 20 years .
Still had a decent holiday though which says a lot for Crete and Almyrida and the fabulous hotel we have stayed in :)
(Sorry for the repeat! Realized I’d posted to wrong person!)

We fly home tonight. Much better day weather wise today although still breezy . Currently sat by the infinity pool on the rooftop of the best hotel in Almyrida with incredible views (Almyrida Residence). Still red flag beach and rough sea so no water sports or boat trips those businesses have lost a fortune this last week .

Paros was the first Greek island I ever visited.
We flew to Athens, coach to Piraeus and ferry from there to Paros. (An old cross channel ferry it was!)
Paros is a place where the ferries connect for the other main islands.
Been to Paros several times now. Loved it but not sure we'll return again. Getting so busy. And in 2 years the new airport will be able to accept international flights so the overcrowding will only get worse.

Yep, shame it's becoming a mini Mykonos. Went slightly earlier this year, was quieter. Wouldn't touch it in peak season again.
