Thinking of going to Lisbon with the missus for our silver wedding anniversary. Looking at w/c 28th Oct. Anyone been there and especially at that time of year?

Went there in November once. Sure it was around 17 degrees some days.

Easy to get around on the metro system and pretty cheap for an all day ticket.

If you want to build in a day trip away from the city Sintra is a good place to go.

Just returned after 4 days there. I liked it. Very hilly though. Metro small and easy to use. The square near the river was nice and food was decent. We took a train to Cascais one day - 40 minutes. Nice journey and worth the visit (think it was only 4 euro 80 or something like that)

We stayed in the Ibis Styles Pombal I think it was called. On the outskirts but 5 mins from a metro and only 5 mins into the heart of it. 5 euro in an Uber too. The hotel was much better than I expected and really good value for the money paid.

I’d say 3/4 days is enough to see what you want.

Metro to the airport but again we only paid 13 euro’s for a pre booked transfer and he was waiting for us at 2am! I don’t think they get paid a great deal in Portugal.

Will probably be better than when went went in February and nearly got blown off the face of the earth with the wind and rain (especially in Sintra!)

If you have a look on our YouTube channel, we have loads of useful Lisbon & Sintra videos we made including:-

Lisbon is a fantastic city but I'm not sure about the public transport. The thing about the metro is that it only covers certain directions - i.e. out to the World Expo site/aquarium and airport, it's great, other directions, not so useful.

We got on a tram to go to Belem one day and it broke down after 5 mins and we ended up calling an Uber. As for the "historic trams", great for taking photos, a nightmare to ride on.

The geography of the place - mains sites in 4 diffenets directions, miles apart - means that Uber saved us. Just 12 euros (one-way) to get from the city centre, across the suspension bridge and to the Cristo Rei - the highlight of the visit.

Like I said, a fantastic city, though, with loads of things to do.

Any recommendations on best place to go in Greece with kids?
Will be 12 and 5 so could do with somewhere to suit both age groups.

Albuferia tomorrow morning for a long weekend, anyone been very recently and have suggested watering holes and restaurants, old town I'm staying in

10 of us off to Rhodes in the morning for 4 nights, should be a good piss up.
Love it on Rhodes but, not been after going at least once a year for about 15 years since COVID, we just seem to have moved on especially as the hotel we'd always use lost it's small and friendly atmosphere by building a new block.

Just back from a golf trip with the boys.
I’d recommend Casa da Fonte for a steak meal. Fillet steaks are massive and then straight across the to the other side of the street to Steps bar. Entertainment starts at 10. One man and his guitar, exceptional player and just plays and sings requests from the audience. Toilets are clean as well. Had one of the best nights in recent years in there.
Can’t upload a picture of menu for Casa da Fonte for some reason but the prices are good. T-bone steak €24.50, Fillet steak €26.50. Might have to book in advance as apparently it’s always busy.
