Holidays

Been to bonaire and loved it but think that's more one where you would go all-inclusive and stay at the hotel.
Looking for somewhere where we can go out at night to a couple of child friendly bars.

Majorca pal. Cala Millor, Cala D'Or and Alcudia are great. Loads for the kids to do and plenty of places to eat and relax in the evening. There's a safari and water park from Cala D'Or, think it was 10 euros in a taxi. Still my daughter's favourite holiday years later

Another vote for Menorca, especially if you have kids. We've been to Calan Bosch a couple of times and it's spot on. The whole resort is really laid back with a lovely harbour with loads of decent restaurants. The prices aren't too bad either.

There's loads for the kids - arcades, boat trips, decent water park within walking distance, snorkelling etc and overall it's just a really nice, relaxing place.

You can stay half board or self catering. Their prices for refreshments are very family friendly and they do look after the children via their kids clubs and evening entertainment.

The Hotel Cala Bona opposite the Marina really was a superb affair, and very handy for all the bars and restaurant's. A bit further down the Promenade the resort merges into Callor Millor which is very German orientated.

For a kids Spanish Holiday I dont think you can go wrong with the Balearics Islands.

I understand your reservations with the Dorm and in peak season it can be a bit hectic. If I was the Mayor of the Dorm the first thing I would do us feck off those chinese shit shops from selling wooden cock shaped tin openers, I mean who's their target market, Pinnochio?

Also those T-shirts they sell, saying things like Old Pussy is Better Than No Pussy, hanging there right in front of all the passing families. I mean to say I'm not a prude, and like old pussy too, but there is a time and a place for tat like this.

Why?
Asking because if you have a criminal record are you allowed in?
Is this the same as America?
"In October 2022, the US Government started enforcing the restriction on people who have travelled to Cuba since 12 th January 2021. These travellers are no longer eligible to apply for the ESTA Visa Waiver programme, and need to apply for a US visitor's visa (B1/B2) via their nearest US Embassy."

Credit to AI!!

So if you have a criminal record you need a us visitor visa?

Another shout out for Puerto Pollença great beaches and plenty bars and restaurants have children in, it’s a nicer resort than Alcudia for me but I’ve only really ever ridden through Alucdia and the beach there is very good but the main drag through has a bit of a rum feel to it.

PP has a few great sports bars as well. From PP it’s relatively easy to get to the Old Town and Cala Sant Vicenç which is a great Sandy Cove to visit for the day, I’m off to PP for about the 15th time Mid May for a weeks cycling and refreshment.

We go on many little trips each year and love exploring new places and being active on those breaks but like a week if doing bugger all in august.
We love greece and tend to go there most years but have interspersed that with Croatia and Portugal.

Already booked Greece (stoupa) for this year but already thinking something different for 2026.

Thinking spain, but i dont know much about resorts there. So this is what im looking for;

-Quiet resort with enough restaurants for the week. No loud music or any sort of late bars.
-fishing village sort of vibe

- sandy shallow beach

- not a huge transfer from the airport

Anyone have any ideas?

Stoupa is great.

El Campello may be worth a look. It's 30 minitues north of Alicante airport. It's also on the tram line from Alicante to Denia. Lots of nice restaurants and still quite a Spanish feel. We stayed there for 3 months in 2019 and loved it.

Came back from a few days away yesterday and used one of the jetpark car parks at the airport.
That bus on the way back from the airport to the car park reminded me of the buses in Istanbul.
Absolutely roasting and horrible.

Loved Alcudia, managed to get a nice Airbnb for the family at a decent price just across from the beach a couple years ago.

Nice bars and restaurants and the beach is brilliant.

Some favourite resorts in Spain, that are a little different but gorgeous all the same.
So many lovely places in Spain.

Llafranc and nearby Calella de Palafrugell are gorgeous places on the Costa Brava in Catalonia. Beautiful towns nearby too.
Es Pujols on Formentera is superb - but gets packed with Italians in August. You have to do a short hydrofoil/ferry crossing from Ibiza Town. Beaches there remind me of the Caribbean.

Llafranc is lovely as is Palafrugell.

Any one been to Paguera, Majorca. Decent price for when kids are off school, apparently 60% German resort?
