Holidays

Just had 4 days in jersey. What a beautiful island.

Really enjoyed it. Nothing bad i can say about the place.

Spent the day on sark, literally like travelling back in time.

Has anyone been to Ksamil in Albania?

I'm going to nashville on Thursday for 4 nights then on to Miami (and possibly Tampa) and it looks like it's going to be raining every single day.

Just back from Las Vegas after a 6 day stay with mrs and the pan lids & partners (both in thirties) for my 60th last month! Weather wise it topped out at 106/41 two days on the run, so no open top jeep rental out into dwath valley which was my original plan.

Fook is it expensive now - I was last there in 2019 but I swear prices have gone up mahoosively since

Currently staring at the thick end of a 9 grand bill for the trip just for me and the missus (and all food/drinks for the kids!)

Saw both my grown up lads a couple of weeks ago, rare they're together as one lives in Oxfordshire however, I used the time to find out Xmas plans and both are going to other relations as the rota turns.

Got home and booked a MSC cruise around the Canaries & Portugal....first time ever we've been away at Xmas, can't wait it's always been something I wanted to do.

We always go away at Christmas. It's too much in your face at home now that it's hard to bear. Although this Christmas we are going to a UK lodge for a few days followed by 4 nights in Barcelona.

Lot of reports this year of horrendous passport queues on entry at some airports. Faro was horrible last summer and just read an article about Tenerife earlier this month.

Any more bad ones ?
Took the kids to Portugal last week and went through faro
Booked the flights very last minute so had a stop in Munich, we only had a 1 hour gap between landing and the next flight so I was a wee bit panicky when we had to queue at passport control in Munich for about 10 mins, caught out flight no bother.
Got to faro and seen hundreds if not thousands in the queue for passport control and thought we were being shepherded to the end of the queue, little did I know that as we had done passport control in Munich we didn't have to do it in faro! Straight out the door!!
Read an article saying there have been three hour queues at faro, it looked fucking horrendous when I seen it

It was YOUR birthday but you paid for all the food & drink ?

Is it Madeira you’re going to rather than Portugal itself? I’ve done the Canaries/Maderia Cruise with MSC, you may even get the football on if you’re at sea a well. It’s a decent cruise,

I think the All Inclusive Drinks package is about £35 pp per night, well worth it for me as Mrs H like her Pina Colada’s after the evening meal and they’re about £15 a pop so you soon get your moneys worth.

Yeah think it's Madeira Mrs Moon booked it as she's got MSC points.

We're full package and in the class one up from normal balcony level so get saunas etc chucked in and I think an exclusive restaurant & bar.

States in general has gone up in price last few years, did New York and Vegas in 2017 for a 60th and it was way more expensive than my previous visit to both places in 2007. Most recent holiday in the States was Florida in September 2022 and the uptick in the cost of living was noticeable, very expensive and I guess prices have increased considerably since then.

Went to the Far East this year and paid £4.80 for a beer in Thailand (Bangkok), £12 a pint in Singapore during Happy Hour and even £6 for a bottle of beer in Malaysia which is supposed to be cheap. Best value food and drink and the favourite place we visited was Vietnam, both Na Trang and Ho Chi Minh City were outstanding places and proper cheap, loved it.

You’ll have a great time with that upgrade, don’t forget to give Ronaldo’s statue the finger!

We did the wine tour in Madeira, that was pretty good for a couple of hours and also took a bus up to the top of the Island, you can get one of those Wooden Sledges back down the hill if you’re felling brave enough but you get a “driver” to steer you down.

Drink is not cheap in Malaysia :-( The only place to get cheap drink in Langkawi which is a duty free island, makes a big difference to the drink prices. There was a UK guy in my local complaining that the price of a pint was the same as London, the prices in that bar are average for KL.
