Holistic approach

It's quite sad that even football isn't free of corporate bullshit anymore, say what you fucking mean, not what sounds good. Some journo is going to ask what they mean by holistic at some point so why not just get it out the way in the statement?

There's a lot of corporate bull around I agree, but saying a Holistic Approach is not. It simply means looking at all parts of the system. i.e they want a manager that will work with the whole system, maybe alluding to the fact that they need to be watching the EDS/Kids and make sure there is a playing style throughout the age ranges that matches so people are ready to step up to the team above when needed.

I'm aware of what it's meant to mean :) I just think they would have been better saying it outright. I read holistic and instantly thought which dickhead has said that? You can see that reaction from plenty of people, it's right up there with Garry Cook's points trajectory. If they say Bobby wasn't buying into the new youth academy and was unwilling to give opportunities to young players then that would have been much better received imo.

I don't see the big deal in the use of the word. We want someone who will get more than the sum of parts of the players, will buy into the academy side of things and not throw the board and management (let alone players) under the bus at every other press conference. I think that's a perfectly reasonable ask.

-- Tue May 14, 2013 8:10 am --

Putting Mancini on blast like that wouldn't be particularly classy.

If there's any approach we should be looking at (in terms of football) its the model that Bayern, Dortmund, Barca, Real and United instill into their players plus tactics. This 4-3-3 business isn't the most formidable approach for us, just look at how Barca struggle without 1-2 key components of their first squad (they play like City have this season especially against Bayern in the Champions league which is ineffective football).

What City need to look at IMO is to keep our formation implemented by Manicni and change some of his tactices, or have a combination of 4-3-3 & 4-2-3-1 kind of like what BVB, Bayern and Real have which is having 2 central midfielders and one just in front of them but not too deep (Silva or Yaya are made for this position). This will without a doubt help us in Europe (playing superior teams) or when we are playing crap.

Instead of utilizing our fullbacks in practically every attack, City must keep one of them to be in reserve at most times (should be Clichy) to ease the effects of opposition counter attacks. Also our central midfielders have to protect our back 4 (most cases our back 2 due to our fullbacks being on the other end of the pitch), this is why I feel De Jong should never have been sold or Garcia/Rodwell must be utilized more. Having 2 central midfielders covering the space infront of the back 4 helping out in protecting iour defence, with Yaya pushed infront of them will be perfect. Then my last concern with City is why we have to play with 2 strikers? Aguero or Dzeko should be our man and one of the two (obviously Kun) should be pushed to the inside left of the 'striker' (like David Villa was at Barca in the 2010-2011 season or Rooney was at United last season).

None of it's been classy, they could at least be straight with us. That's what they mean, it's not classier because they've used a few words instead of a couple of sentences.

We decided he wasn't the man for the job and went about replacing him. No need to list in the press release all of the reasons for doing so. If they did that no doubt there would be a thread saying it was out of order.

Fucking "Holistic approach"!!!

Absolute fucking disgrace. "Holistic approach" translated means Txiki picks the formations, the players and the manager.

Mancini refused to be his puppet and got the bullet. Now enter some sap, probably "people's person" Pelligrini who puts out the cones and is called a head coach.

Absolutely disgusted at the club.

Hysterical fucking nonsense!
