Holistic approach

Its only bollocks if it doesn't work.

If it works its genius.

I bet the next few months will be more interesting than the same period last year

Spot on - why can't people just wait and see how it works out instead of jumping to every negative conclusion about the club the second anything happens. Some of our fans on here are worse than the media we so rightly criticise for taking a totally negative attitude to the club. Perhaps the owners know what they are doing and we don't know what's gone on behind the scenes. Wait and see before mouthing off.

I have a lot of faith in the two Spaniards and while the media and rags have been having a field day with "holistic" I have a feeling they won't be laughing 3 years from now.

On snn reporting saying that Mancini never set foot in the youth area of the club, is this true or just more crap being spun by the media

true apparently ......

Whilst the phrase "holistic approach" is far too management speak bollocks for me to be happy with it, the general premise behind it is a sound one which has worked elsewhere, Barcelona being a prime example.

A "holistic approach" can basically be viewed, in footballing terms, as getting the entire club, from the youngest youth team players right through to the first team representatives, being involved in the same environment, being treated in very similar ways, training in similar ways, learning in similar ways, playing in similar ways. If you've played and trained in one way since you were a child then it comes as second nature to step up to the first team level, and train/play in that way still. With our new training facility due to open in Summer 2014 we need to come up with a joined up approach to the way we handle the training, it was obviously viewed that Mancini wasn't too concerned with this approach, and that his methods at first team level wouldn't lend themselves readily to the club as a whole.

More or less true.

yep that looks like it's being implemented with the rumoured clear out of coaching staff and new ones being brought in to do this

No idea if he did or he didn't. Who cares anyway. Mancini's brief when he arrived was to get a CL spot and win trophies not to look after the youth program. Going forward it is obviously going to form part of the 'holistic' brief hence the change but its going to get silly if we start having a pop at everything Mancini didn't do given the job he was tasked to do was bloody huge and difficult enough.

Once you start with the tittle tattle stuff everyone starts to look silly.
