Holistic approach

If you want "holistic " then look no further ( and it pains me to say this) than the old Govan pisscan so recently departed .
The man came from a poor background and never forgot it - he knew how to lead - when to shout - when to sympathise - he was a pragmatist and that is the very quality that convinced the hierarchy at the swamp to stick by him . How many clubs would let that length of time elapse before silverware turned up?
The stories about how he knew the names of everyone from the tea lady to the chairman ring very true and his extensive knowledge of virtually everything that happened at that place was instrumental in his and the scum's long term success .
Before I get called a rag for saying this ask yourself 2 questions :
1 - if he had managed any other club than them , would you not be praising his successes, and
2- would you not like too see something even approaching that level of success here?
From what I hear of Pellegrini, there seem to be some similarities and that , I think , can only be good for our future.

If the 'holistic approach' is to be followed this means that the Cheeky Boys will be running everything. The new manager won't be a manager at all, he'll just be the head coach. He'll have minimal to nil input into signings and he'll just be given a squad and told to coach it to win trophies.
Completely agree

and when they fuck up they'll sack the manager and get another fall guy in to replace him

I totally agree with you about Fergie .....

however i know nothing about Pelligrini , and i just hope that , should he be installed here , the club have really done their homework.

I think it's more to do with a holistic approach to the club. Everyone in sync and pulling in the same direction, from the academy upwards. This may mean that it is the the direction that Soriano and Begr. dictate but ensuring that the people they identify fit in at each level, and see a 'production line' of talent.

I'm certainly not hoping they have got it wrong. I hope the changes they are putting in place work and we go on to dominate English and European football for decades. I do have my doubts though.

From the ill judged "Forever Blue" and "Cityzens" ideas, to the potential of the DoF dictating the way the first team plays, I think the Cheeky boys may be trying to make a photo copy of Barcelona at a club and in a country where the same model will not work. Different fan and football cultures, and what works there may not be suitable for here.

I sincerely hope my misgivings are unfounded and the changes go on to improve us and make us the best team in the land and all the world. In Mansour we trust.

Don't know if this has been posted already but it turns out the Holistic Approach is closer than we think...
