Honestly who is/was better?

I loved Gio he was a superb player, in lets face it a crap team, as Rodney Marsh would say "lipstick on a pig".
Had Gio played in the current team then I believe he would have turned it on every week. As someone said on page 1 of this topic, the rest of the players were two steps behind him. I used to say they just stood and watched him, like we did.

Having said that Silva is magnificent and is truly in the worlds elite, but he's never played in a poor team and had to carry the impossible expectation that Gio had to.

You cannot compare these two players from two different era's playing in teams with totally different ability.

I thought it was a contest on who was the best in city shirt not when Gio played 4 Derby , Gio all day 4 me what was the best ball Gio 2 rosler at the shithole or Silva 2 Dzeko when they had 10 men , when silva waltzers round half team and clipps it over the keeper then he mite b , add Silva to Scott hiley , buster Philips , Gerry fuckin Creaney , Clough what would u get , relegated

MCFC OK

Both brilliant individually but Silva by far the better team player

Not that Kinky had much of a team to play with tbf

I hate to say it but if Kinky had gone to a bigger better club at the start of his career, i think we'd be talking about him as a European great in the same breath as Van Basten, Zidane, Gullit or Figo!(I know i've left so many out) We had the choice of buying Kinky or Figo at the same time/same money, oh what could've been for that lad, a bad city side or an even worse Derby(was it) side!

-- Sat Nov 12, 2011 1:35 am --

Gio went to a better team and didn't make it. Therein lies the answer.

Kinky went to an Ajax side that were winning and went on to win eveything, he couldn't get in the side because homegrown talent so good at the time and never had a good run in the side! (or is that just my memory playing tricks on me?)

kinky was a legend, silva is a legend, both of them made me more than happy to pay in maine rd and etihad, there is no argument only debate if you went in them grim days youll know that the boy was a genius who never reached his potential gambling women and booze were his downfall, who knows what would have happened if he,d moved on when most players would have i remember the banners in georgian begging him to stay he did now you can slag him off for wasting his talent but dont have a pop at a guy who tried his heart out for us when we had nowt shit. short memories he was a blue end of story.....

If Silva is to compared with anyone it should be Colin Bell.

Kinkie just doesn't come near.

I have only seen Messi play once live. That was a pre-season friendly at Murrayfield against Hibs and he was totally unplayable. I have seen him on TV several times and he is awesome.

I think he is the best player in the world at the moment but Silva and Aguero are not far behind.
