Anyone remember Coventry .?..no honest,in f a cup tie goater scored last minute winner and that was the cue for them to run at the main stand. Imagine getting smartened up by old blokes with flask.mint imperials, and tartan blankets.
I went to that game with a Cov fan mate of mine I was at uni with at the time. He was in the away section and he said he’d never been so scared in his life when coming out the back of the North Stand after the game.Wasn't it about 50 Coventry tried "storming" the main stand but when the gates opened they ran back asking for a police escort to their coaches
I was in the North stand for this game in what was usually the away section. They swapped the home and away end round as they often did for the fa Cup games.I was at the game, I'm sure they ran into the North Stand. I was on the first row behind. Although there was a barrier covering some seats in between the home and away fans in the North stand. There was practically nothing on the ground floor aisle. Loads just ran through there. Some of the managed to get over the banks in between the seats too.
Cov were allocated part of the north stand, they scrambled across that bank of seats in front of the police control box to get to the main stand which was obviously populated by our older support. I was right opposite in the kippax corner and it was frustrating to watch, that said, cov didn't want to know when they saw their welcome party after the game. I think it was a shock more than anything else, I don't recall anyone trying to get into the main stand?I was at the game, I'm sure they ran into the North Stand. I was on the first row behind. He looked shell shocked when we met back up again and headed back to Town, I asked him what was up but he wouldn’t speak. Said later he didn’t want anyone hearing his accent until it felt safer.
Was that called J block? The Great Coventry Invasion was 100% in the main stand as i was sat right behind it.
As has been said, they ran across the vacant seats in front of the police box and into the maine stand who all just looked at them bemused. It was quite funny to see them run back after about 30 seconds :)
