Remember it going off on the forecourt outside the Main Stand at home to Chelsea in 89. Proper riot
Went with the Middleton lot and chaddy boys about 10 guide bridge too. Happy days!Exactly how I remember it mate. Cardiff got a massive shock near that petrol station, all giving it the big one, then bang, City gave it them. I was also on that coach.
Pretty sure boro thought they had a result in the ground, not sure they did but they forgot they had to exit the ground. Don’t think they thought it through very well.I said precious, must he hard for you ger fams to even imagine what it was like
Even towards the late 80s and into the 90s and 00s when police had a handle on the organised violence , there was still fighting that you cant really imagine happeing todat.
1989 v united , the 5-1. The scrapping in the north stand and a massive bunch of red cunts being escorted out past the main stand and into the platt lane corner to a huge chorus of YOURE THE SHIT OF MANCHESTER.
Coventry at hone when a sizeable bunch of them stormed the main stand. Probably thinking it was full of old cunts, only to be met by enough lads to send them oacking.
Middlesborough getting into the north stand at the final whistle and it going off big time. I think city were caught too unawares
All fams visiting maine road knew they were in for a battle if they wanted it.
Im not glorifying any of it. Its what it was at that time
Todays sanitised version of footy hoolies is a million miles away. Even the above instances which were mild compared to a lot that went on is unimaginable in todays game… which is obviously a good thing
Yep was dead easy to go in the home ends back then…for brightwells goal the paddock to the left was half city, remember it kicked off before the game and split city/united ..we had loads in there. Same for curles pen in the stretford end, I was in there with about 300 blues and the police actually put a corden around us and left us, as there were so many. Great times!Same way we got tickets for the Stretford paddock or whatever it was called .back in the day
For brightwells goal i was just behind the city dug out (was on tell and still on youtube).Yep was dead easy to go in the home ends back then…for brightwells goal the paddock to the left was half city, remember it kicked off before the game and split city/united ..we had loads in there. Saw that lot battling with Burnley at hilton park services one year. We were coming back from Tottenham in the car. Sat eating my chips and all of a sudden total mayhem all over the car park.Went with the Middleton lot and chaddy boys about 10 guide bridge too. Happy days!

two FA cup games ....they were brilliant (except for the court appearance)Love hearing about all those memories Back then you had to have your wits about you even at Maine Road. I loved traveling to away games with City. I was usually by myself most of the time so I could avoid the trouble but I couldn't help feel the excitement and nervousness before and after the game. Having seen the footage the game I wished I'd have been to was the infamous Leeds FA cup game. It was a battle on the pitch I can't imagine what it was like off it.
I had ample chance to buy one for the Keith Curle equaliser match..Yep was dead easy to go in the home ends back then…for brightwells goal the paddock to the left was half city, remember it kicked off before the game and split city/united ..we had loads in there.
