Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Chelsea on a Friday night towards the end of 83/84 season. It was a live TV game and they were heading for promotion, their nutters were all over the place, it even kicked off in the Main Stand.

Yep, and i was on a bus on Portland Steet in the city centre about 6 o'clock , and there was City and Chelsea fans fighting in the middle of the main road there!

Remember wgen Colin Bell made his come back against Newcastle
Never seen as much violence then
City & Newcastle going toe to toe inside entrance to Kippax no one giving way then City fans starting lobbing bricks from top of Kippax
Hitting every fu*ker mad days
My grey matter thinks & I was there never seen no shit, geordie made the atmosphere for the king and I was 20ft off their fans

The "battle of the Kippax" around 1967/8 iirc.
Yes but the North Stand hadn't been built in 67/68 . It was still the Scoreboard End and away fans sometimes went in there.
I remember Everton fans piling out of there at a Good Friday game. I was about 12 at the time so it could have been that 67/68 season.

Definitely a 3pm KO game Don. Loads of City skins and bootboys charging around looking for Scousers. All dressed in denim jackets, jeans and various styles of boots. Not everybody could afford Doc Martens, I had to wear ordinary DMS style boots until I could convince my Dad that Doc Martens were a better type of boots for working with him on his UCD milk round on Upper Crumpsall.
