Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Saw loads of cars torched and tipped over whenever we played Liverpool......bet they loved Maine Road.

Remember the boro chant?

Middlesboro
stick together
There was also the chant after a number of child abuse cases in Middlesbrough.
Sing to the tune of another brick in the wall.
Hey Boro leave the kids alone .

Might be wrong but think they were banned in 1977 as well? The 6 - 2

*edit:

Boro got a vicious beating at Maine Road around Easter 74/75.

It was organised revenge for for some shithousery up there earlier in the season.

All the City mobs were out before, during, and after and apart from smashing the smoggies,a coach was set alight and several mini buses wrecked.

Cleveland police chief complained to his GMP counterpart that his force turned Nelson's Eye to the protection of his citizens.

This event was the start of the hate twixt us/them.
When we beat them 3-2; think Nicky Reid was sent off; walking past social club after being in Platt Lane with me dad - saw 2 Boro lads begging black cab driver to let them in as a small mob City were about to give them a kicking.

Yeah they were definitely banned for the 6-2 in 77-78 which had been declared All-Ticket ( a rare occurrence in those days and evidenced by the lower-than-normal attendance, as it was a complete pain in the arse, even for City fans)

There's an article by Garry Jones on one of those Chelsea sites where he describes the Police boarding at Macclesfield and forcing Chelsea fans to alight from the train.
