Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Any City pics on there, save myself going through them all?
Not really. One of the shots of Newcastle in the 80s looks to be on the streets outside Maine Road. Then later on there are various shots of a Leeds firm on their way through Manchester in the 80s. There's also a shot which says Man United v Man City and might be Whitworth Park in the 80s.

A particularly nasty day was an FA cup fifth round tie against Plymouth in the mid eighties. Their was a massive gay rights demonstration in town in protest against the Thatcher government. I saw no worse before the match than blues jeering the demonstraters but at the match rumors spread that the parade had been attacked and several demonstrates had been ambushed and injured. We won the match 3 1;and learned the Rags had lost at Arsenal ending there last chance of a trophy that season so headed back to town in a great mood. When I reached Wilmslow Rd I was horrified to see anyone who looked like they had been on the demo smacked by gangs of blues as many were walking back that way towards the uni. The worse incident I witnessed was a lesbian couple being thrown out into the traffic fortunately their was no accident. Only time in my life I felt ashamed to be a blue. This will seem totally unbelievable in these days of Canal St and gay pride but it happened and left me feeling disgusted.
