The police will be looking at the situation, we should expect a decision between 0900 and 1100 tomorrow. The basis of the decision will will be safety of travel to and from the stadium, it will have nothing to do with the state of the pitch or city square.

Looking at the forecast now, I think this one might be off.

Not a chance. Potential of a max of 19mm of snow before , during and shortly after the game if the forecasts are right. Appreciate it may be difficult coming over the tops but the game will be on. Think about it....apart from the rags cc semi............how many games have we had called off due to snow, surrounding roads or not, in the last say, 25 years.......

It. Is. Just. A. Bit. Of. Snow:)

Everything I've looked at is saying up to 10cm of snow starting at 2 or 3 o'clock. It's very similar to the forecast that led to last year's game aginst the rags getting pulled.

Even if it isn't, it'll be freezing rain which imo is even worse than snow for public safety

can see this getting called off imo

20mm of rain can produce around 20cm of snow

If it gets postponed...

On the positive side, we'd have the Toures back for the rescheduled fixture.

On the negative side, it will probably be crammed between two other fixtures, causing fixture congestion.

And for people like the Canada-based guy on Bluemoon who has flown over with his kids to see this match, it would be particularly awful for it to be called off.

His kids will soon understand what 'typical city' actually means!

I hate to have games in hand so hopefully it gets played, but I could see positives and negatives if it does get called off.

Fishy got that completely wrong!!

The Great Storm of 1987 occurred on the night of 15–16 October 1987, when an unusually strong weather system caused winds to hit much of southern England and northern France. It was the worst storm to hit England since the Great Storm of 1703[2] (284 years earlier) and was responsible for the deaths of at least 22 people in England and France combined (18 in England, at least four in France).

My prediction......

weather forecasting has moved on since then mate.

without trying to sound like a weather obsessed geek, you have various model maps that are released 4 times a day, not all of them predict the exact same thing, but the data the BBC weather forecasters / met office etc rely on comes from that

from the forum ive been reading www.netweather.tv its pretty nailed on for snow for a time, but not sure if its full snow or turning to freezing rain after the first few hours

Will see what happens tomorrow though as the weather is unpredictable, but snow at some point is never in doubt

Ill be looking up the forecast rabidly tomorrow. Dont fancy getting stranded in manchester as i know that trains are shite in the snow. Only coming from sheffield but ive been bricking myself about this past 2 days.

Please please dont snow tomorrow!
