I went to the Tunnel Club for the Brentford game, the cheaper upstairs option. It was also one of the cheaper games this season with a bit of a discount for season ticket holders costing £324. All around great experience.
Pep and the players stride through fairly quickly and the announcer struggles to keep up with them. These days they are behind plexiglass. Rodri is a complete rock and beast close up, and you wouldn’t want to tangle with Laporte, Stones or Dias either.
The food and drink just keeps coming from the welcoming drink as you pick up a lanyard, to last orders after the game. The staff there are brilliant and it’s a cast of thousands serving.
The quality of the food is excellent and they take your order for your halftime and full time drinks. They give you a gentle nudge to let you know it’s last orders too, so always time for a last-minute wine to go with the after-match pie.
They had John Salako chatting before the game and Brentford ‘celebrity fan’ Dean Gaffney at half time. Sadly Dean didn’t bring Wellard with him. Salako seemed overawed at being there. I was slightly surprised there were some Brentford fans in there too. They were well-behaved, but I could imagine it may not been the same with all away fans.
Paul Dickov breezed through and so did John Stapleton - there must have been other faces about. I noticed the Dsquared2 twins, Dean and Dan Caten walking through after the game.
The seats were very comfy and supposedly heated. It certainly seemed warm enough second half to take my coat off. Would definitely do it again as a once-a-season treat for one of the cheaper matches, but will also try out some of the other options too.
