Been watching some of this. Not sure why the police haven't used a sniper on him yet. They know he's a lone activist and he's a threat. Hostages have been tweeting and using social media to give commentary, so he's not that on the ball. Hostages had escaped through the back in plain sight of police, so why haven't they used that as entry and distracted him from the front window??

I don't get it.

If those numbers of 40-50 hostages are right it's pretty strange how one guy could control them even with the gun. Either there are less of them or he is not alone. Probably less of hostages, guess we'd know if there is more of attackers til now.

The numbers goes up and down a lot. I suspect the police and media knows fuck all about the exact number. It went from 40+ to 20 to 13 to whatever it is now

The police know exactly how many there are - five people came out and have passed on all the details.

Obviously not the usual under the radar lone Wolf as he is well known to police and media. Hopefully it can all be dealt with pretty calmly and things don't seem too OTT or panicked down here

Just read a tweet from Aus defence league. Seems like bogans gonna take matters into their own hands. Me think there will be cronulla riots part 2.

And once again, white Australians as a whole will be made to look like the villains...not the Muslims kidknapping, threatening to behead innocents and bashing lifeguards. Not condoning any violence towards innocent Muslims but they don't help themselves. Unfortunately it doesn't take much to trigger something when there is already ignorance, boredom and racial tension present.

To be honest the White Australians who rioted in Cronulla deserved all the crap they got their behaviour was violent, mob rule, racist and disgusting . There was some pretty awful behaviour that triggered it but it should have been left to the police - two wrongs don't make a right!

I never felt White Australians as a whole were blamed for that any more than I blame all Muslims because of a few dickheads
