That was a weird day, but yeah, I did find out. I found out before anyone saw him, as I knew an agent who worked closely with Man City. He told me. There was literally nowt anywhere online about it at all at the time. Was incredibly out of the blue.

It was one of the best Fridays of my life :)

I was/still big fan of Bernardo and was sad to see him linked to United everyday, then suddenly he is in Manchester to sign for City.

If Foden is good enough then he will get in the team regardless of who else we have. Foden's progression is not the important thing here, us winning is the end game. If any player can improve the team/squad then we should buy them if they are available. If that means Foden does not get in the team, then so be it. Foden will have to rise above all the challenges in front of him.

That defeats the whole point of our academy then. What can this new guy bring that Foden can’t?. We can’t just keep spending 30/40 million on players each season when it’s just not needed.

The point of the Academy is surely to produce players that can rise to the challenges in front of them, or build a successful career elsewhere, giving us a regular income stream.

I speak as someone who wants academy players in the team, but they have to be of immense quality, physically and mentally.

Now I have only seen bits of Aouar, but for me, he is more Silva like than Foden. He is not as graceful as Silva, but he dictates the play in between the channels. He is the man who assists the assist, if that makes sense? Foden does not do that, he does not play with his back to goal, receives the ball and then able to turn a man and open up the play. Foden likes the ball at his feet, he likes to dribble and he is more of a goal scorer. Both players have different skill sets and could quite easily compliment each other very well.

The key thing you seem to be missing is your first team is allowed 17 foreign players 4 homegrown and 4 club trained, without a good academy you lose 4 players in your squad.
