Houssem Aouar

Pep has spoken about Foden being the most talented player he’s coached, he said we don’t need a replacement for Silva cause we have him. Now if we go out and spend money and this Aouar then that’s just silly. Look at the other young players Similar age to foden, why do you think they stand out so much... cause their actually given solid game time. I don’t even think Foden has started consecutive games. We’ve wasted a lot of money on shit players over the last 5/6 years. I’d much rather see these kids given a proper chance eg, Sancho. Foden, Angelino, Toisin. We can’t have any Sancho situation where Fosen eventually leaves and in a few seasons we see, ‘Oh yeah he actually is quite good let’s bring him back’
 
Aouar reminds me a lot of Gundogan. I wonder if Ilkay may be off if we are to bring this lad in? Or Maybe Pep wants to keep Bernardo solely on the wings and have KDB/Foden/Aouar/Gundogan/Rodri for the midfield three

Now I have only seen bits of Aouar, but for me, he is more Silva like than Foden. He is not as graceful as Silva, but he dictates the play in between the channels. He is the man who assists the assist, if that makes sense? Foden does not do that, he does not play with his back to goal, receives the ball and then able to turn a man and open up the play. Foden likes the ball at his feet, he likes to dribble and he is more of a goal scorer. Both players have different skill sets and could quite easily compliment each other very well.

We have to wait to see what plans Pep has for Foden if Aouar comes instead of just writing him off. I agree Phil has so many good qualities. He has good ball control, is dynamic and can make bursting runs. He has a good eye for goal and can make good decisions in transition. With Silva going we need someone who can control the game a bit more. When we're pressed high Silva drops back and helps play out of pressure. He plays simple passes and keeps the ball moving. Aouar can do this and also can be a link up with back to goal. Who knows Foden and Aouar could play together on the left. Aouar could be the one who finds space for Foden to run into. If Pep doesn't play Phil then I will hold my hands up, but I want to wait and see. Both Silva and Sane are leaving which leave us 2 players short on the left.

I can see us playing Mendy or a new left back more next year that overlaps much better. Think it was said previously it was hard to play Mendy and Sane together. So expect us to replace Sane with some one that plays narrower.

If Foden is good enough then he will get in the team regardless of who else we have. Foden's progression is not the important thing here, us winning is the end game. If any player can improve the team/squad then we should buy them if they are available. If that means Foden does not get in the team, then so be it. What more can foden actually do?? He’s clearly good enough and is one of the best young players in Europe. He regularly gets goals, assists, despite barely playing. Does he have to be messi?

the challenges - ready made 60m players- how on earth is any young player meant to over come that????

of course his progression is important. It would be huge for the club and most fans to have an academy player in the first team. Why would you not want that?

spending 60m on a player when we already have a ready player would be a waste

so many excuses to not play young players. We have finally have one with world class potential, but oh well let’s just keep buying ready made players all the time

personally for me Gundogan would be the first out the door - he adds very little in any form esp against the best oppostion.

I have no idea whether Aourar is better or not however.

I don't think Foden can play as a #6 or in a 2 man midfield which is where I think Aouar can and will play in time.

Gundogan is brilliant in the deeper six role, definitely not in the 8.
