How are you getting to the Cup Final?

With the best will in the world I'd rather stay at home than catch another coach to Wembley. The one against United last year, run by the club was an awful experience. Too slow, too boring. Nothing extra onboard, no TV, no sandwiches or drinks, nothing. Getting there we made reasonable time but coming back was horrendous. We were told the coach would leave 30 minutes after the final whistle and they weren't waiting for anybody. I just about saw the presentation and did a bit of celebrating before having to rush back to the coach.

When I got into the pink carpark it was a nightmare trying to find it. When we arrived it was almost empty. Now it was rammed with loads of coaches and people milling around everywhere, it was very hard to locate the right coach. We were then stuck in that coach park until almost 7.30 pm. We finally arrived back at East Didsbury at 11:15 pm
Never again.

Oh man feel your pain.

Off topic I know but the worst trip back from Wembly was on a Bostock’s coach that stank of diesel after a Mandela concert… got home at 5AM

4pm train Friday out of Piccadilly then back out of Euston on the Monday at 6pm.

Mooch around the big smoke and celebrate by paying London prices for ale.

Driving to Watford Friday lunch
Hopefully sat is a nice day then it’s the Greenman for opening
Two nights in the travel lodge
Back Sunday afternoon

Bit pushed for time in the morning and as I live 30 seconds from the M6 think I’m going to drive to Stafford (50 mins) and jump on a train there as loads go through. 90 mins from there to Euston. Hopefully pick up the one that’s come from Liverpool as might be a bit more room.

I’ve always gone by train.

Farsley Celtic v Hereford is the only problem I’ve had all season. I got as far as Hebden Bridge and ended up in Rochdale watching City v dippers.

Some passengers don’t like football fans but it’s public transport and they can do one.
Rail is unreliable, enjoyable way to travel, but high risk

I don’t ever recall missing a match travelling to Manchester from London with Virgin and that was a decade worth.

I was delayed in a few times but never missed kick off. Read too many stories from Blues who did at Wembley by coach. Palace away one time too.

Not sure I’d agree with that. Strikes are frustrating but at least they’re always announced in plenty of time to make alternative arrangements.

Cancellations are annoying and inconvenient but I’m struggling to think of a single game where I’ve not made it there and back, in over 40 years of travelling to games by train.
