How do we get better next season?

how do we get better,

if we didn't buy anybody new for the squad then I wouldn't worry because next year we will have the player of the year(2019)

bernado silva, this guy will be our messi ,peps eased him in and next season he will explode ,bookmark this post ,you can thank me next year(don't know what for)

terms and conditions
these opinions are peace frogs and I have the right to delete them if he gets sold(which he wont )

Wow, some of the crap that is being spoken on this thread is amazing.

We have the best owner in world football, probably the best chairman.

We have a system set up that has us winning at all age groups.

We have the best squad in the premier league by a million miles.

We have the best manager in the world.

We have some very impatient fans.

Hahahahaha

We're sitting comfortably on top of the top 6 mini league with 7/9 wins against the best teams in the country. There are apparently 18 teams in the league who can't get at our defence and that's a problem?

Oh spare me a minute while I cry over our shite defence that's lost us 4 competitive games all season.

If only we had a defence like Liverpool's or United's or even Real Madrid's which "crumbles" against shit opposition as well as good ones.

Calm down mate.
Read the thread title and I think you'll find it says 'how do we get better next season'.
You'll be hard pressed to find any city fan that doesn't think we've been incredible this season, that doesn't mean this team is infallible as the last week has shown.
We can't improve much in the league because we've already reached the top. If we want to win (or at least improve) the champions league, we been to be able to stop the defense from folding like it has repeatedly in the last week.

Read the comment you replied to and you'll know it was talking to someone who thinks we need to score 5 every game to win.

Obviously when you have a very good defence, which we do, the next step is to stop conceding goals in the very few games you do concede in, but if you actually look at the games we're conceding multiple goals in, it's not about the quality of the defenders, or "being got at" (still the stupidest phrase in football), it's about reacting to conceding goals.

It's a collective mentality issue not a personnel issue. We also react very badly to any sort of perceived injustice, and 90% of the time in a detrimental way too.

Fair enough, hopefully pep can fix it as I've also thought it to be a mentality issue (Sometimes I think we are also far too open against Liverpool) which is stopping us going far in the champions league.

There will be natural growth in the squad. Sane had plenty of ball in both games but our lack of balance cost us as he was double marked.

Mendy being fit helps and we need to ensure we have cover elsewhere too. The pace at full back position is vital to how we play and allows the room for our forward players to attack. We were too lopsided in both games because we had to tweak formation defensively due to Salah. That is not the mark of a great side. A great side has a gameplan and personnel that ensure it is effective against anyone.

We have Mendy to come back in but simply cannot play the way we want to wothout him. Cover is needed a left back. Similarly we need a striker. Jesus and Aguero are brilliant but I think Jesus needs time out wide to show his trickery and float into goalscroing positions. Aguero should rotate with someone or Jesus should play as a second striker at times.

We have been too reliant on De Bruyne, Silva and Fernandinho and we need Gundogan and Bernardo to step their game up, which Bernardo definitely will. We need cover for Fernandinho amd Stones and Laporte need to show Otamendi and Kompany the door by playing perfectly when picked.

I do feel that next year has to be the year for us in the CL or we might lose Aguero, Silva and Fernandinho and have a lot of work to do with the squad again.

If we buy well in the summer and get the luck we need then we can win the CL.

7 years in CL, one Semi Final non-event; despite the prioritisation, the spend and the stated intentions of the club/owners.

Our owners are far too smart to have all success measured against a knockout cup competition.

Also I don't think I've ever heard Mansour or Khaldoon say "Our goal is to win the champions league", I've only ever heard them talk about winning it as part of the ongoing growth of the club and as a competition that naturally one of the best teams in the world should be competing for.
