The world in which Brexit was conceived has irrevocably changed and that is a reality that the Government has yet to address. The world is quickly forming into blocs and China, Russia, India, the United States, and the European Union will mark out their own spheres of influence, so any deals the UK seeks to negotiate will largely depend on the say of the dominant bloc.Agreed, two decades seems a stretch. Right now we have no defined agreement on where we want to be with Europe. We can’t exist on the fringes which is why we belatedly joined in the seventies. We can’t exist at the heart of Europe, when even, as members we kept trying to opt out as much as possible. We are now trying to exist by pretending Europe doesn’t matter and the Pacific is where we should be focussed and then finding out the security of Europe is our main priority with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The UK’s main problem is that reality refuses to comply with our preferred fantasy vision of the world. The Protocol Bill last night was evidence of our continued unmooring from reality.
It really needs a sober view of the world as it is, particularly Russian aggression and align what we do to that. It will take a leader with vision, charisma and extremely large balls but it is what is needed. The world in which Brexit was conceived has irrevocably changed and that is a reality that the Government has yet to address. Far from falling to pieces, as was foretold, the European Union is now intent on accepting Ukraine and other countries, so within two decades it will likely have a population of over 500 million people. Still, they can shred international law and claim it's all for greater sovereignty, but sovereignty doesn't put food on the table and sovereignty doesn't keep you warm, unless, of course, you use the shredded laws as bedding.

Make friends with Europe - tick
rejoin single market - tick
get the economy moving - tick
demonstrate credible leadership on the world stage - particularly standing up to Putin - tick
boosting defence spending significantly - tick
repair the NHS and Welfare state -tick
Where the fuck are we going to find someone that can do that?
Pep, ever thought of politics as a next move?
Yep - this is the level we are at..............
Once trust is destroyed it takes a great deal of time and effort to rebuild but it is possible. It will take a regime change to even start it Under normal circumstances. The major issue is look at the bunch of cunts we have here passing laws to break international laws - we can't just re-join anything we need to kick this Brexit bunch out of office and a long way away - we have to make it so the type of shit the proposed campaigned and lied about can never be part of UK politics again - if thats possible - because they have made the UK untrustworthy. Why would anyone never mind 27 other one's negotiate with us if we cannot show we won't just revert to what we have now come an election and cannot be trusted to sign on the dotted line on an agreement then turn around and rip it up? In such a short period of time this lot have made the UK toxic and not trustworthy
The most vocal left a long time ago. Pretty cowardly given his rhetoric. There are one or two that pop back once in a while. When all is said and done, what could they say?
Sorry doesn’t quite cover it.
It will take two decades to unwind this mess.
