How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Regardless of what anyone thought this is why the **** should never have got anywhere near the top job and why any talk of him coming back should be a bust - his supercilious smile gives away he knows its a lie but to him its always ever been a parlour game

Was it patronising to think only thickos would fall for this?

So which is more patronising? Telling people they'd have to be thick for believing it, or designing it in the first place, thinking that some people are thick enough to believe it?

How patronising was it to tell people they'd had enough of experts?

It really is not patronising to tell someone the truth.

If you count Cameron as both a pre and post referendum Prime Minister, we've had five Prime Ministers in the six years since Brexit.....Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak.

Pre Brexit we had Cameron, Brown, Blair, Major and Thatcher.

Thatcher became Prime Minister in 1979.

Five Prime Ministers in 37 years.

I think a lot of people overestimated Britain's importance, both to the EU and the world.

There was this notion we were so important the EU would fall over itself to give us terms very similar to what we had enjoyed as members. In short, we would have almost all the benefits without paying in and without being bound by their rules and regulations.

This was naive at best, but it was a view encouraged by chancers like Johnson.

One of the great underlying problems this country has is an exaggerated view of itself. I (partly) blame successive governments from 1945 for trying to pose as a World Power. It was always a nonsense, and now it is nonsense on stilts. It percolates right down to people in pubs who think the name 'Great Britain' refers to our status and not to our size relative to Brittany.

Ignorance is a real killer. Unfortunately, many older people, educated in the supposed golden age of tripartite education (another delusion) are not deep thinkers and run largely on emotion. They say things like 'I believe in Britain' and think that patriotism is a matter of waving the Union Jack and despising foreigners on principle.
