How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I have seen a few things today where the EU are categi0rically denying that any sort of Swiss style deal is on the table or would even be considered right now. The ERG etc are being cleverly played because polls of even Leave voters are now showing they are unhappy and British business is against it - even business leaders who supported Leave.

It all assumes that the EU would welcome us with open arms =- yes they mat be happy to do so but I am sure they are also happy to let us fester in our own self imposed shite before they impose requirements on rejoining that many will dislike.

I have always said it - we were a huge attractive economy who were able to negotiate the best deal we could have ever have hoped for - we had all the benefits and still could opt out and carp from the sidelines - we will rejoin but that is never ever coming back

We should not kid ourselves, it will take a long time to rejoin.
We have to lay the bricks, one by one, until we get there.

This may include things like internal reform - PR voting and a written, codified constitution. In such a scenario, an unelected Upper House is unthinkable.

I was looking at the human rights league table the other day and although we are not up there with Qatar by a long chalk we are well behind our European friends. I found that shocking. And disgraceful.

We need to get real economically, agree to match European standards, and ideally ask the EU for the same sort of deal that NI has. If we have to pay for it, so be it. It'll be cheaper in the long run and it would solve the NI border question.
