How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I read the posts you try and rewrite whatever you want.
So what happened to the Leave promise that we'd still be in a free trade zone from Iceland to the Russian border?

Once that promise turned out to be worthless, trying to reverse the vote was a perfectly sensible aim.

Brexit was a huge mistake, one I’ve owned and admitted too but I find this statement a tad hypocritical I’m afraid given how the 48% demanded the wishes of the 52% just be ignored and the vote to leave overturned.

Had that happened any notion of harmony or compromise would have been entirely non existent and the damage far greater than anything leaving the EU imo.

To be fair, I know you was never one of those wanting that.
The vast majority of remain voters never argued for the vote to be overturned. We argued that there should be a second referendum on any plan to leave, because when the vote was enacted there literally was no plan whatsoever. That has happened in many countries over the years and is totally democratic.

If leaving the EU when it was actually planned and the consequences laid out, and not just some abstract concept, was a good thing for the country then the second referendum would have gone the same way wouldn’t it?

In truth every single leaver from Dominic Cummins and Boris Johnson down to you and that clown with 1632 in his user name knew that you’d lose a second referendum once the lies were better exposed to you fought it like cat and dog.

Things couldn’t have been more damaging that the way things played out. Lots of us still have enormous anger at you all.

To be honest I personally don't feel any need to be a world power. Plenty of countries our size seem quite happy and comfortable just getiing on with their own business. Think people thinking we were or should be a world power is what led to Brexit in the first place.
I agree. I think being a 'world power' is greatly overrated. Like an empire, it involves vast expenses and responsibilities without any worthwhile return except (possibly) an emotional one.

But what is worse is to pretend to be a world power when you haven't the resources to maintain it. This is like being the Duke of Devonshire but living in a council house. Amusing. Quirky. But ultimately futile when you're down the job centre with Bill Smith and Susan Jones.

Countries like that? Austria-Hungary pre-1914. Portugal, pre-1974. Both are much happier places now they're in line with reality.

Which has nothing to do with what you said, that's some really bad deflection/strawman.
