How far will the fall be before evasive action is taken?

Nothing can be changed now with Pep coming in 4 months. No one better will take charge for 3 or 4 months and no one internally is as good or better or less average than MP.

Just have to suck it and see.

It begs the question are we only allowed to be concerned when it gets to 3 trophies or do we have to wait for 2...1...0. Because essentially that is the point, we may technically be still competing for four trophies but the way we are playing many fans think it is fairly certain that we will end up with none and are more worried about top 4 status than whether we will win the league.

exactly right mate. i dont understand how some dont see it

Ours is a team/squad badly in need of rejuvenating, and the essence of this squad which was built in 2009/10 is coming to the end of its cycle and clinging on desperately for one last hurrah.

If we can win the League Cup and finish in the top 4 as this squads last hurrah it will have eked out all it can. Leicester running us off the field last Saturday was eerily similar to what we did to Utd in October 2011; they were younger, hungrier, fresher, quicker and far more incisive than us and highlighted blatantly all our weaknesses.

Major mainstays of our squad have either gotten way older - Zabba, Ya Ya, become far too susceptible to regular injury - Vinny, Silva, Aguero, or in some cases we have had inferior members come in to replace others eg Barry and De Jong being replaced by Garcia and Fernando, or Tevez/Dzeko/Balotelli being replaced by serial sicknote Jovetic, an injury prone Wheelie Bin who has all the mobility of a blamanche, and a raw kid in Iheanacho.

Our full backs are all 30 plus; our centre halfs are a mess - we have 1 top class one who's permanently never there, one who cant stay on his feet if his life depended on it, another who looks like he cant handle being in possession of the ball and also seems injury prone, and Demichelis who is shot to pieces and should've been pensioned off last summer but is still there as hes a managers fave.

In short, a major major overhaul is required and quickly. Conservatively we need 2 full backs, a centre half (don't we always), 2 central midfielders, and 2 strikers. When Pep comes in Id mark Hart, Kompany, Otamendi, Delph, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling and Aguero as safe - the rest are all under review and replaceable. One of Zabba/Sagna can be a squad player, as can one of Kolarov/Clichy but we desperately need fresh legs there. The final folly is spending £6.8m and having one of your foreign player slots taken up by a goalkeeper - plain daft.

We won't sack MP before the end of the season, or at least not unless the top four place comes under serious threat.

Partly this is because of the negative press we'd generate by employing somebody for only a few months, but ultimately sacking MP would reflect very poorly on the leadership team and Begiristain in particular.

Effectively, the club has gambled on MP being able to produce at least a medoicre season (i.e. still top four) and avoiding a disaster before PG arrives next season. If they were to sack MP now, they'd be admitting a serious mis-judgement, and they'd also be highlighting how poor our transfer activity was in the summer. I don't rate MP, and defensively we've been poor throughout his tenure. But I suspect that he hasn't been the one buying the players for the past couple of years, and starting the season with our current 4 centre backs looks like a very costly decision at the moment.

Does make you wonder what Begiristain has been doing to earn his no doubt inflated salary.

Hallelujah..I've been saying exactly this for the past 18 months.(I carry the scars to prove it)..
Remove his Pep association and he is a disaster in player recruitment and media management (cakegate etc). He needs putting in charge of catering now...

we seem to overpay for almost every player we sign. strange decision not to sign top class CM last summer when it was clear with Yaya's decline last season that we needed one and its now biting us on the arse. Yaya past it, Fernando not up to it, Delph squad player. Fernandinho is the only one who is up to it consistently.
