How long have you been a City fan?

My first ever City match was the final home game against Crystal Palace (1972/73 season) aged 10. Palace got relegated but still won 3-2. Franny Lee got two pens (I think!). The following season I went to loads of games - I was hooked.

Had been to United a few times before City, due to living in Old Trafford (still do!) - but it didn't grab me. Thank God.

I was seven and dragged along to watch some bloke make a comeback from injury.
It turned out to be Colin Bells comeback (against Newcastle I think?)

My only real memory of that game is of sitting on the wooden bench seats in the Platt lane... freezing my nuts off.

A few years later I became a season ticket holder and was off to Wembley (81 cup final) and I thought this is easy this 'being a City fan lark'

little did I know what kind of journey was ahead................

Hey.... I'm the original Oohvonkyvonky.... What's going on here??

Coincidentally I was born 1977.... Born a blue, Die a blue.

similar for me - '75 '76 season taken by a guy who worked for my best mates dad. sitting in the platt lane in the wooden benches which were painted maroon. We were playing villa.... clearly I thought they were us and we were them until I was told to shut up shouting at the wrong bits!
season ticket from the next season when I started going with my brother and his mate and never looked back.......well, possibly the occasional glance over the shoulder!

(and wasn't it "ooooh vonky wonky"?)

1969 !!! 12yrs old got the bus from swinton to dilly them spesh to ground and still had change from a quid !!!! hahaha

i have been a city fan since 1963 through the good years & not so good years but i would not change it for the world
true blue forever

First match was home to Everton in 1961 I think. I was 7.

Denis Law played. I remember we won 2-1 and can just about remember one of the goals (Colin Barlow?) going in at the scoreboard end - no such thing as a North Stand then.

Everything else is a blurr, but I was hooked from the first minute!

not that long as I became one, I come from a rugby league town (Barrow in furness)- and had preferred R L until my friend at work a life long blue 57 years of age invited me to eastlands - it was the game that stevie ireland had his superman pants on - i think we were playing sunderland - I have not stopped following CITY ever since, I can see why blues from birth are so dogged in there defence of the club - I ve only been following city since psycho was managing and I am fully passionate about celebrating and defending CITY against the usual rag shite comments which seem to on the rise.

Anyway as its my first post, I want thank all those blues who adopted me as there own and made my life in manchester a who lot better and a whole lot bluer. CTID

I started supporting City aged 7 in 1955 and was allowed to go unescorted to Maine Road for Saturday matches when I was about 12 ... we were brought up proper in Abbey Hey

By the time I was 17 me and my mate Pete were following home and away as we rose from the second division to become the best team in the land winning everything as the history books show

The current times are easily the most exciting partly due to TV and the Internet Nowadays I hardly ever miss a match but only go two or three times to COMS a season

we are the luckiest team on the planet and one day we may well be the best. Until then I think we should all keep our sense of humour, keep a sense of perspective and keep on supporting The Blues

Thank you to the Sheikh for cheering me and you up

Come on City

1999, as a 7 year old. First game was City v Barnsley at Maine Road in November of that year. Now 19.

born blue in 1969. Went to games with my mum, dad and sister in the '70's when they could afford it and sat in the platt lane corner.
Started going on my own in 1984 when I had a paper round and could afford tickets. Then got sesson tickets for the Kippax when I started work in '85.

City is not a choice, it is an afflicition. Thanks dad!
