How long will the rebuild take?

Give Pep 1 billion over 3 seasons and we would be untouchable for years.
As long we don’t use the money on signings like Nunes, Phillips and arguably Grealish. Its going to take more than a couple of signings to rebuild this squad. It looks like the old guard except the rags are gradually making a comeback and moving ahead of us so I reckon it'll be 2 seasons at least (hopefully less) before we're challenging again.

That's only 4 (of your 5 required), and 2 of them were largely shite.

What we really need first, more than anything else, is a bit of luck on the injury front.
Boateng was a good signing at the time. Arshole as a person it seems but did well for Bayern. Kolo was another decent signing.

Go;

Walker - has to be moved on and it was a fuck up persuading him to stay. Hes been awesome. Not anymore

Stones- guys world class but just cannot stay fit. Time to go

Ake - very good but like stones, terrible injury record. Time to go

Gundo- i was very happy he returned but a mistake in hind site

Nunes - just not good enough.

Kovacic - hes ok. Thats it though and wouldnt be near a city team of years gone by.

Phillips - wont ever come back so as good as gone

Mcatee and lewis - i just dont think they will make the grade. Much as we all want a team full of young blues.

Akanji- tough one. I like him and hes been a bargain but without a strong partner he goes to pot. Probs keep but dunno

JURY OUT;

Doku and savinho. They arent going to go anytime soon but im not convinced by either and both have a lot of improving to do

PICK ONE FROM 2;

Ederson and ortega , dunno which one and i feel neither are quite up to level just now.

KEEP;
Dias, gvardiol, foden , haaland.

UP TO THEM;
KDB and bernardo , they owe us nothing, up to them. Pair of legends
Carson will just retire and join the coaching staff
What about Jack, keep or go ? He's a hard worker but offers nothing in terms of goals.

He looked a good signing at the time, wasn't for us, without looking it up, I've no idea how many games he actually played.

I don't care what he did elsewhere, it wasn't here.
Still a good player tho which is the original point. Hence why I included him as an example of the type of Jan/summer we need. Thats all.

No such thing, the club should be on a constant upgrade, players get older when they do standards drop, standards not quality, the dropping standards allow new players opportunity, the last three years we have let standards slip, so we are playing catch up, if we buy well in January ie two DM`s of different styles and ages, which would give us a structure to build upon, then summer may well be enough to catch up

I can't see us buying 2 in Jan tbh, although we definitely need to reinforce that area. The other issue is that player needs to be at it from the off, with no time for the "learning Peps way" routine. It's a problem area at the moment though, no doubt.
