How long will the rebuild take?

Realistically we need 6/7 elite players in and probably more players need to go due to age, injury prone or poor ability

On top of that pep wants to leave & it’s obvious. He has no energy left himself

We need to be extremely careful to not panic buy. We need to rebuild but we don't want to get stuck with players on long contracts who aren't good enough.

For January I'd say that we need a replacement to cover for Rodri and that'll do. If we can then finish top 4 this year then that will be the springboard needed for the summer.

Probably the most critical thing aside from this is resolving the outstanding contract issues with KDB and others. If they're going then they should be told that they're going, we don't want to be going into a summer rebuild not knowing what is needed.

Obviously the court case could be pivotal to all of this.

A bad two months after what this team has achieved for years and they think everyone is crap, Pep will walk, Txiki is a clown, the club is finished....

It seems to younger fans but also those who have always flapped.

They've just been waiting for the club to go through a bad period so they can say I told you so, over their fears they wrote before the start of the season.

In answer to the threads question, the rebuild won't take long.

MIdfield needs sorting. If Rodri was there we'd be a changed team instantly.

Get a quality player there in January and the results will change.

This is a revelatory thought. I've just spoken to my contacts at the club and told them about this post. Txiki was speechless, as the thought of buying better players had never occurred to him.

Funny, because we didn’t do that with Phillips, Nunes, Doku or even Grealish. Or bringing Gundogan back.

Largely agree but think we need at least 2. The Rodri cover and would suggest we need some defensive cover as Stones and Ake will be unavailable on and off. Both players we bring in need to bring some energy to the side as well and I would also hope for a little more physicality from the Rodri cover. Looks like the PL will have 5 CL league places this year and its all about making sure we get one.

Desperately need a solid base but January is going to be difficult to get any top target. Zubimendi would be my top choice and would sign an actual left back.

It’s not as bad as people think. Just as it wasn’t in Pep’s first season. That’s because when you’re at our level you’re only ever 3-4 players away from challenging. It’s just making sure those players are the right ones this time.

Rodri will be back next season.

Then we’ll need:

1 right back
2 midfielders
1 winger (who can actually score/assist)

Maybe a keeper as well if Ederson leaves.

We've had a problem in the past in that the mantra has been some players take a season to adapt to Peps methods. Some even longer if anyone thinks Nunes will come good. So in reference to Jan, and I've said this somewhere else, we need a defensive MF who arrives, adapts and performs instantly. Possible but not likely.
This is a large rebuild over a few windows. I think even the most ardent "we only need 1 or 2" posters can see this now. It's not a slur on the present team, but up to half a dozen or so need to be replaced.
