How many points to win the league?

And to get that level the following has to happen to one of the following:

Chelsea drop 7 points or less in their remaining 17 games having dropped 18 points to date. ( 14-1-2 )

Manure drop 6 points or less having dropped 19 points to date. ( 14-2-1 )

Liverpool drop 4 points or less having dropped 22 to date. ( 15-1-1 )

Spurs drop 3 points or less from their remaining 18 games having dropped 23 points to date ( 17-0-1 )

Arsenal drop 3 points or less from their remaining 18 games having dropped 23 points to date ( 17-0-1 ).

Remembering that all of them still have to play each other bar Liverpool v Arsenal and all of them have to play us the odds on even one of the above occurring are slim.

Most bookies would be happy to give you odds of 500-1 on one of the above happening.

Can anybody seriously expect one of the above happening this season.

Maybe Chelsea who are capable of a run in like that but given the run they have been on already they are bound to drop points at home and away from here on in.

I can see them dropping 12-15 points in their remaining 17 games finishing with 81-84 points but it could be worse.

If you were a betting man you would back it in that 84 points is enough to finish first this season but certainly 88 points will be more than enough.
Fully agree particularly if we maintain a superior goal difference 89 points would be a massive ask for anybody. So win today and we need 30 points.

28 in truth but I get your jist Father.

As Dax and others have said the idea is one game at a time and maintain the lead of double digits which keeps the pressure on the chasing pack.

We always was going to drop points but we got a point so it's still 9 wins, 4 draws, 4 losses needed to get to 90 points plus superior goal difference.

I did 10,000,000 permutations in 2012 and none of them had Wigan winning and Everton snatching a 4-4 draw. Does my fucking head in all talk of beating this and that record. We have won nothing yet. Not. A. Carrot. Makes me cringe reading newspaper/web/bluemoon articles about how we're the best team ever / how we'll dominate for years etc, etc. Time to show a modicum of reserve. If and when we win the league, let's roll out the platitudes. 8 points in 6 games. Could never be done? Overcome an 8 point deficit from a max of 18 points? Well, we did. so 14 points in 17 games (51 points) is something we shouldn't get too cocky about.

I don't disagree that's why I said this in the post you quoted

All that said no point being cocky and celebrating before it's a certainty

Odds in to 1/20 to win it now with one bookmaker.

10 points out of the next 12 would be nice.

Appreciate all the one game at a time and don't get ahead of ourselves comments........but just a bit of fun

I reckon could be as low as 83 points, which means we'd need to win 8 of our last 17 games

In reality it will probably be about 89, which means we'd have to win 10 of our last 17 games

Looking at our remaining fixtures it should be easily achievable

And yet we've had to rely on Raheem pulling a rabbit out of the hat on a few occasions recently against "easily beatable" teams?

We shouldn't get too cocky, as today has shown, a few off days, bad refereeing decisions, injury to a few key players could cost us the league regardless of how well we've performed so far.

One game at a time is my motto, until it's mathematically certain.

We won’t get anywhere near the same points per game in the second half of the season. Just been looking at the fixtures and we have to not get complacent at all.

Spurs away, Everton away, Liverpool away, Burnley away, Chelsea and the bus parkers at home.

All tough games.

Need arsenal to get something against Chelsea on Wednesday.
