Hi all, I'm now 2-3 weeks into my programme, a mixture of free weights & machines, 5 sets of 5 reps, working out Monday's, Wednesday's & Friday's. Feeling great so far, just trying to rein myself in because I find I want to be working out everyday, it's a bit like a bug!! I've also starting eating a lot healthier, my wife helping me out with that side of things.I'm now thinking of incorporating some martial art, or boxing, twice a week on the Tuesday & thursdays. Anybody think this is a good idea, or would it be too much?? I'm 49, but feel 20yrs younger!! Any suggestions welcome.

Only you know how your body feels, give the martial arts a go see how you feel ,but what you have to remember when training/weights etc ...

Rest is as important as the training side/diet etc ...

Understand you wanting to train everday etc but that can be detrimantal to your training in the long run, fatigue burnout etc

This is just my opinion, others might see it differently

Thanks mate, will get today and start using.

Just so you're aware, it's not a magic bullet. If you still have a shit diet ECA won't save you. If you don't know a) How many calories you burn on an average day and b) How many calories you eat on an average day, I'd stay away from it until you do.

You would have to be a idiot to think you can lose weight whilst smashing 3000 calories in, I'm sure he knows he needs to eat less, ephedrine will help in that respect to as it is an appetite suppressant.

Calling someone a idiot when you come up with a statement like that is a bit silly

Look around any training/bodybuilding forums and you will be surprised the amount of calories some eat while stripping fat

I know of a few who cut on 4500 calories ,its all person dependant so your statement is pretty rubbish

Thanks Samsdad, I understand the fatigue, burn out side of your comment, but is weight training not different than boxing/ MA training?? I have the usual aches/pains for a bloke my age, but as I've said in previous posts, I've always been physically active, so wanted to incorporate some form of self defence/boxing into my training & have weekends at rest?

Sorry what i meant was you know your own body,so doing the 2 days martial arts and 3 days weights just make sure it doesnt take to much out of you, when your body is telling you to rest you need rest, wether you have a class booked or not,if you understand

For muscle I find you can't beat 21's . You guys can probably tell me the modern name for these. In 1995 i was 14 st 4lbs and body fat 3-5% I used these at every training.Get a weight which you curled for say biceps curls 20KG 15KG and at the end of your work out get 50-66% of that weight. Curl it to halfway 90% angle 7 times . then from 90% angle to top 7 times. Then blast out another 7 full curls. I found this hit all parts of my muscle that i didn't know i had.
You can do these to bench press (use a spotter) ,sit ups ,anything. Hope this helps. Oh and get loads of protein post work out.
