My metabolism is such that whatever I eat I can't seem to put on weight. I'm skinny and I want to bulk up, but I want to do it the healthy way. I don't like the idea of supplements because they seem unnatural to me and I don't want to put any undue strain on my body. I'm in my early 30's by the way. Some stomach problems mean I would struggle to simply double my meal sizes.

Is there a foolproof healthy way to bulk up? Do I need to get myself down the gym to do this? Wouldn't know where to start!

Supplements are a fantastic way of gaining healthy weight as long as you use the right supplements. They will also help you obtain the vitamins and minerals your diet currently lacks. A word of warning though if you do use things such as protein shakes etc you will need to go to the gym as they are packed with calories.

I was in exactly the same boat as you in terms of my metabolism at 6ft i weighed 140lbs and seemingly couldn't gain any mass at all. 3 protein shakes a day, 2 amino acid tablets and vital vitamins helped me gain 25lbs in a year with a strict workout plan and diet. I now compete on the UK MMA Amateur circuit. If you need any detailed help just pop a PM over and i'll try and help if you are serious about gaining healthy weight.

Poof.

90 % of getting and keeping fit is diet

Crap.

90% of being a healthy weight is diet.

100% of being fit is exercise.

Think he's just worded it wrong, to get fit fit you need excercise yes. But what hes trying to say is if u want to see a change in your body when training a bigger priority is diet.

Yeah i worded it wrong. Would be nice if eating well kept you fit, lol

Turkey and Fish are great, also eat 5 medium meals a day too helps.

I had 2 poached egg on toast for Breakfast.
Rye bread with Peanut Butter for a snack
Tukey on Brown bread with salad for lunch
Fruit and peanuts for a snack
Salmon and Brown rice for tea

That's today. I have a 4 week old baby now and the gym is just impossible, but that doesn't mean I wont keep eating a healthy diet.

90% of being a healthy weight is diet.

100% of being fit is exercise.

With eggs, ryebread and nuts on the menu, I think that's guaranteed

Have you considered eating asylum-seekers?
How many can you get on a Rivita ?

Several,if you puree them in a blender first.
I prefer to sautee travelling folk and smear them liberally over a Cornish wafer.
A useful reference book is 'How To Cook Minority Groups When You Aren't Out Fucking Shoplifting' by Antony Worrall Thievingcunt.

I'm skinny. I can't stand the fact that my t-shirt sleeves are baggy round my arms. The problem is, I have never really been past the induction of any gym, and I'm now in my early 30s.

All I want is for my arms to nicely fit my tshirts. I have no desire to be Arnold Schwarzenegger. I am prepared to go to the gym to achieve this but I'd rather do it at home if possible. Quite frankly id be embarrassed to go to the gym because I'd struggle to lift much at all.

Can someone please outline a plan for me and tell me how long before I can expect to see results - I am willing to dedicate myself to it. Or should I just sack it off because I'm just the wrong build?
If you wanted to tone up, get some free weights or go to the gym, lower weight but more reps, obviously up the weight every now and then and aim to work different areas of your arms and maybe chest, shoulders etc (depends how much you get into it and attend the gym)
Im off the skinny build and i went to the gym for about 2 months to tone up (got too costly in the end) but you could tell the difference in that time.

Im sure others will have better methods, techniques and information though.

just out of curiousity, would you mind saying how tall you are and how much you weigh?

eat more is the first thing you need to do before hitting the weights, i have a mate who used to be like a stick and he hit the gym like that, nothing much happened, he just ended up looking a little more toned (well with the meat that was there).

i'd keep and eye on the scales and when you start putting it on, then start going to the gym.
