How to P"""" off the French

No confusion from me - but you certainly seem to be confusing 'dislike' with 'hatred'

I will leave you to your confusion
Have you any examples of this phenomena?

Which posters are guilty of these posts?

Or are you confusing dislike of what this current Government is doing with dislike of this country?

Lets try again, Evidence of this dislike or are you the sort of poster who buys into the simplistic right wing tropes that are printed on an almost daily level. The sort of nonsense that they print includes calling WW2 Royal Navy veteran Ralph Miliband "the man who hated Britain"

You must be one of those halfwits who have wholeheartedly bought into the Culture War nonsense, which makes you a useful idiot for the Capitalist Class.

Read your post back and then ask yourself the question (from my POV) - why the fuck would I want to enter into an exchange with you

Only if they are designing a new sub from scratch - 15/20 years and that’ll be fully operational. I would have thought they’d use a US or UK hull design to save a lot of time as their current fleet is broadly clapped out.

Nuclear capability is being drafted onto a navy and a country with zero nuclear capability, infrastructure or knowledge. It is very ambitious and these subs will not be operational until well into the next decade. And that’s if everything goes to plan (a plan which currently does not exist).

No major defence contract goes to plan or budget and invariably overruns.

The nuclear question is politically challenging for the Aussies. But this is an alliance. Perhaps they’ll lease the subs -probably Astute class or US equivalent as they come completed - they can use Diego Garcia for maintenance and that’ll see them sorted for 15-20 years - enough time to build their own version and sort out the domestic issue of nuclear power. If they overrun they can always get the cores replaced by either UK or US as those subs will be good for 50 years. Obviously that strategy goes slightly against the pledge for Aussie jobs so that might be a tough sell domestically.

The UK is now laying down designs for Astute’s replacement and that’ll likely be what 2035-2040 before that’s in service? Maybe the Aussies will do a joint design with UK to help share some of the upfront costs and reduce risks for the Aussies. Plenty of work can also go to their domestic workforce which would alleviate both the jobs and nuclear question in one fell swoop.

I’m sure they’ve got plenty of ideas

No need for Australia to build a nuclear industry because unlike French nuke subs, the reactors in the Astute don't need refuelling. I assume the Virginia boats are the same.

Well, it’s nice they have plenty of ideas, but we still won’t see a nuclear Aussie sub in service until well into the next decade.

I don’t think this is a particularly contentious point, nor is the observation that defence contracts are invariably beset with technical issues, delays and budget overruns - like the amv contract Australia has with a German firm.

Nuclear subs are on a whole different level.
