Apparently there's a new medication out now in tablet form. I doubt it will be available for peasants like me. I must have had 5/6 colonoscopies, last but one I'd arrived early only to be told the Doctor had ducked. The procedure for me is no problem but the med yuck !! Anyway, our thoughts are with you and will be looking forward to some positive posts from you later.
Yep, the med is horrible, for anyone who’s never had it it’s almost impossible to describe what it tastes like, thanks for you kind words.

@hammocity I had bowel cancer back in late 2022. One emergency ileostomy and they cut the **** out of me. Hopefully you won’t have to go through what I did but we’ve all got your back if you do.

I had a colonoscopy last year and am fine. Now on the waiting list for reversal so I no longer have to use a bag.

Best of luck, friend.

Thanks but blimey that’s a lot go through, thankfully technology has given you a second chance, I’m walking to the hospital as it’s only 10 minutes from my house, I’ll be appreciating the fresh air.

The cancer op itself was fine. I knew nothing of it and was sedated for a while afterwards. It’s the subsequent medication that knackered me. I was weak as anything for a month.

The positive I have is that it’s changed me as a person considerably. For the better.

Really sorry to hear that. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Honestly, I’m fine. Bowel cancer claimed my grandad (whom I never met) and my dad. I was 42 when it happened and knew what it was before the medical people gravely approached me. I’d always been prepared for it.

One emergency ileostomy sorted it. I was in and out of Clatterbridge and Arrowe Park (Wirral hospitals) regularly but getting the all clear was worth it.

Glad to hear you’re better.

No alcohol, no drinks with dye in them, tea or coffee no milk.
you'll be wandering down there now,
probably worrying yourself.
let us all know how you got on, won't you.

eggs and potatoes are good for the stomach after a fast.
washed down with some much needed booze, i'd imagine.

blimey.
glad to hear you're on the mend.

well, it's nowt compared to what others are going through,
but i had a camera in my ear today...

i woke up almost deaf in the left one this morning.
everything sounded muffled,
i could hear my heart beating in it
and when i spoke i could hear my voice inside my skull.
fucking weird.

straight on the phone to a hearing centre,
they got me at noon.
the audiologist inserted the camera
and i saw the inside of the ear on a screen.

"there's a piece of metal in there. look."
lo and behold,
a long thin curled piece of shiny metal wrapped around the drum.
like a tiny earring or summat.
it scared the fucking shit out me.
i asked him how it had got in there.
he said "i don't know but we need to get it out."
he flushed it with warm water (irrigation they call it)
but the damned thing didn't come out.
he tried again, while i carried on shitting myself.
then out it came!
it was just a 3cm hair from off of my head, that's all.
phew.
i'm having a stiff drink.

it took my mind off little calum, that's for sure.
i'd better attend to him now,
see how he's progressing.
