The season wont start again in April. Given we have players self isolating at various clubs and the fact that we have had no games. The squads will need some kind of pre season training, and as they could be missing players due to SI then the integrity of any matches played would be diminished due to missing players and half fit squads. They would need to be in training now for games to start in April, and that isnt going to happen. If they started training fully now, then it will almost be May before you get a game. We all know that we will be entering the peak of this thing by then so we can forget any resumption of the PL.
Then let's suggest we give Liverpool the title. If that precedent is set, we have to fulfil the final standing obligations of every league. Hows that fair on teams with games in hand and that have the potential to do a Leicester and win 7 from 9 to stay up, and then win the league in the following season. 5000/1 they said, but it happened. Greater odds than is catching Liverpool now and winning the EPL.
It's not a great situation, and Liverpool were going to win the title there is no doubt. But we could also have won the FAC and CL do we get awarded them, do Leeds get the Championship title, do Barnsley get relegated, do Portsmouth with the Leasing.com cup because their favourites against Salford. What would Rat Boy think about that. Fact is there are winners and losers everywhere. You cant award a commemorative plate to Liverpool cos they might have won the league. Portsmouth and City and Leeds and everyone else who might have won something should get one to .
There can be only one solution and that, sadly in my book, is to null and void the season and start again, hopefully in August. But the financial ramifications in the lower leagues need to be on the agenda for the PL. We need to stand together as a footballing community and help out those less fortunate, if only for the fans who like us, love their clubs and dedicate their hard earned and time to them just as we do to City.
