The Premier League, via the PGMOB, announces the referees and assistants for the matches on the following weekend on Monday afternoon at 16:00.

This occurs regardless of the presence, or not, of a Monday night match.

For the first time this season (aside from Easter), no such announcement was made yesterday afternoon prior to the Manchester derby - the Championship Play Off, League One and League Two officials were released, so someone was in the office!
The referees have even been announced for the Blue Square Premier Play Offs next Monday.

Seems they wanted to know the outcome of last night before letting Ferguson choose who he wanted for the key games this weekend.

Or they just waited to see which was the biggest game this weekend so they could appoint the man they feel is the No.1 ref? If we'd lost on Monday night the Toon match would be much less significant.

So it could be said then he's got a pro-City agenda! These refs, apparently, have the capability to make split second decisions whilst analysing what long-term effects it will have on united. Maybe Webb sits in a room on his own and is pro City and when he saw Mario's stamp he thought, (in a split second, mind), 'well if I dismiss that Mario might go on and score'. He's a good'n is our howard!
