I've just been offered a spare for Sunday. Looking forward to it. Looked at the price of a standard ticket and almost £50 to see us against Huddersfield is too much. Huddersfield away tickets at £30 are still on general sale too. How can a family of 4 justify £150 plus drinks/food/travel. No wonder the family stand is always patchy. You'd have to be mad to spend that when it can get you so much more for your buck

They drew nil nil, in my book that means it worked for 90 minutes

Only in a very shallow sense. Anyone can get lucky in one game but over a season, you'll need a lot more than luck. Put another way, if they put 10 men behind the ball, defend like crazy and the game ends 0-0 - but we have missed an open goal and a penalty, would you say the tactics have worked?

Only one way this game is going I'm afraid. Everyone behind the ball and defend like f..k.

To quote 'they have come with a plan and stuck to it well'. No mention of time wasting or being boring.

Didn’t say they would manage it again, I said they did it for the full 90 mins last season, successfully. I give them credit that they worked their bollocks off and got a point they deserved. Do I think they will do it again this season - yes I do, but unsuccessfully. If GDM says we will win 4 0 then we will

Did Sterling miss the open goal? :-)

We should be able to win this one, and I think we might even see three at the back.

Ederson
Kompany
Stones
Laporte
Walker
De Bruyne
Fernandinho
Bernardo
Mendy
Aguero
Sterling
Six defenders against Huddersfield! No thanks. We will need creativity to unlock their defence, so Sane and Mahrez should start.

Ederson
Walker Stones Laporte Mendy
Bernardo De Bruyne Gundogan Sterling
Aguero Jesus
As much creativity as we can have.

How about this and lets just pummel them

Ederson

Walker

Laporte

Mahrez
B.Silva
Fernandinho
Sanè

Not quite. There was a long spell where they pressed really intelligently and stopped us playing our game, largely restricting us to our own half for periods and threatening the counter. Eventually they got tired and we took over, I'm pretty sure by the hour mark they were pinned back like every other team would have been, but unlike most games we just didn't score.

Think a lot of our players had been partying for most of the week.

Yeah I agree, which is why we couldn't score once they dropped back like we normally. But there's no point discounting Huddersfield's tactics for the first 30 minutes. I doubt the likes of Pep would. And anyone reading my original post should know at this point I was only speculating as to whether they'd come with the same approach again.

I only count five.

And it doesn't always work like that. From a tactical point of view, Mendy and Walker could be the perfect weapon to break down their defence- in particular Mendy who's one of our best crossers. It also creates more space in the middle of the park.

Piling all our best creative players into the same lineup may sound good on paper but won't necessarily be the most effective way forward. Whatever we do they're going to sit back and defend like shithouses so we need options.

I might have dreamt it but i think pep said last season who couldn't play with sergio and gabby together whilst benny was out?

What mind blowing options pep has now, would like everyone to get over the notion anyone is "dropped" now,we have a brilliant squad with different set up depending on the game,i think pep will know which formation he wants v which team and that's who will start with different formation options on the bench to change the game if needed, would like dropped to be hidden like **** is from now, they all run and they all compete,we have no lazy fuckers in the squad now

The type of game we should be utilising the squad and protecting key players, just 1 game into the season but it could benefit us down the line to give Fernandinho the game off, even if it's something as simple as avoiding a yellow and a potential suspension when we need him most and will allow us to assess our alternatives in what should be a relatively easy game in that role at least with yhem being unlikely to have any sustained pressure in our half.. Play Delph there or if he genuinely believes stones could be a viable option give him a go and get some minutes into Otamendi or Kompany.hope Mahrez gets another start as it will be the first game where he gets to play in a strong team that's going to have 70-80% of the ball and the perfect opportunity to show how he can help to unlock stubborn Mourinho-esque parked buses.

To be fair it might be viewed as churlish to pit a team out containing only 10 players
well how silly do i look now haha I would add Jesus to that line up as i want to ease de bruyne back into action and i belive Merlin is injured.. either way id like an attacking line up and absolutley rip them a new one
