funny how many people on here slagged everone off who said dunne didn't deserve a testimonial
low and behold the manager comes out and states dunne wanted to leave city fact
so all the posters on here who had a real go and slated the club for getting rid of the captain should perhaps post a retraction
First of all you have no Hughes quote, pathetic.
Secondly, from what I read Hughes is a liar, a talented one but a liar, imho. Not a fact just an opinion based on the limited knowledge in the public domain.
Thirdly, Hughes made his desire for Lescott very public, he needed 'to improve the team' was the repeated mantra. All this while Dunne who Lescott was publically known to be a replacement for was playing for and CAPTAINING our team. Public Humiliation by your employer.
Fourthly, when making previous club statements about Dunne, published on the official website, Hughes condemned Dunne through faint praise. Even Stevie Wonder could see this.
Fifth point, The club wanted a 'Change of Culture', and a 'Winning Mentality'. Now let me spell it out for you, this means out with the old guard and in with the new. Its a no brainer, Dunne was the Captain of the old guard, the losers mentality, he had to go but not before his replacement came in.
Sixth point. I had no issue with Dunne going, Lescott is a different style of defender, marginly more than massively better imho.
The real issue is not that Dunne was let go, but the manner of it. Hughes is a liar, it should be obvious to anyone, though I think he is more a white liar as I feel Cook was the real driving force over the way Dunne was treated. Whether or not he got 600k or whatever is irrelevant, he would have got a £6m testimonial next year if he had stayed.
He should have been treated better by a club he was with for 9 years, captained the team, was player of the year for 5 years, 4 in a row. FFS he never even got saying farewell to the fans, that sucks, lacks class and is a warning of how fans may be treated once we are successful and the prawn sandwich brigade roll across town; bye bye Working Class City, the heart and soul of the club (Man U Mk2 for those too thick to work it out).
As for apologising for criticising Hughes and the club, you can whistle dixie.
