he's planning to trim our squad by getting rid of names like Darius Vassell and Tal Ben-Haim. This can only be good. To be fair to Hughes he's come to a team where the squad hasn't been the way he's wanted. Next seasons gonna be the real deal. ctid.

Oh, I didn't realise TBH had come back to us :-S

There is no benefit whatsoever to giving him a new contract now. His performance should (and will) be reviewed in full at the end of the season before making any decisions like this.

I am pro Hughes and think he is doing a good job but I think its too early for a new contract. When / if are away form matches our home form then negotiations can begin.

i think they want to see fans reaction to new contract .. Probably looking on sites like this . I think its good to keep to him sending a signal of stability and not giving the press want they want . You cant build a team overnight and his tactics and substitutions can only get better with a bigger and better squad

If Michael Johnson can get a 5 year double-your-money contract after hardly kicking a ball for 12 months... then Hughes getting a new contract would not surprise me in the least!

It's clearly not "real" money anymore, so who cares how we spend it?

Let’s get real about Hughes. Last December he wanted us to judge him after he had a chance to play “his player”. This despite the fact he had already spent a small fortune in the summer break. So in January window he spends another small fortune and what have we got: -
Usually at least 8 players on the pitch bought by him.
A team that still struggles to beat a 10 man relegation team (yet again).
Struggles to overcome Aalborg who at best would be relegation candidates in the Prem.
For that matter how many points have we taken off the relegation candidates this season – not many and none away from home.
With players he inherited and were good enough for a top half finish last season he added around a £100M in the summer and we get knocked out of the cup games by the mighty Brighton and Forrest.
Today we were poor by any standard. The fact that a defender got M O M says it all against 10 men. His tactics were poor and he persisted with 2 defensive midfielders despite this set up not stopping the opposition coming through our midfield in previous games. When is he going to accept that playing a lone striker (who is not right for this role) causes more problems than it solves. Play the two sacrifice a defensive midfield player and let the opposition worry about us for a change.

I say no extended contract get rid at the end of the season.
