100% not having a go here but I would like to ask whether it is possible for Hughes to ever have got anything wrong, ever?

I'm not being a wum or a twat I just find that 100% support for anybody, anything, is a little odd and doesnt sit well yet I notice De Niro and a few others appear to rate Hughes higher than most and I'm interested to know why, that's all.

Also I'd like to hear peoples opinions, pro Hughes posters especially, on some of Hughes odd tactical decisions this season.

I'm not pro Hughes but I'm far from anti Hughes, I'm aware of the problems he faces at the club etc

I`m pro Hughes and i was also pro Sgh.

You make the crucial point in the first line asking if he ever gets anything wrong.

The answer is yes but so does every manager so lets give him a bit of time to see how good he is at putting them mistakes right.
6 months is not enough and i don`t think 12 is .But i would accept that.

It's pretty obvious when you read my post above, and most of my posts on Hughes, that I'm not saying he's the messiah...but it's a bit galling when i read some of the garbage on here from the anti-Hughes brigade about his apparent ineptness.

Managing a premiership football club is not that easy...many managers came before Hughes and failed to get us anywhere over a prolonged period of time...many so called top managers have failed in the premiership...Hughes needs this season and next season before he can be honestly judged...

My sentiments exactly BS

I'm going to give my views on Hughes, once and once only.

He is trying to change the structure of the club completely. He walked into a shambles of a mess. Right from the start he restructured the Carrington facility. I seem to remember stories that it was a complete mess under Sven. I know for a fact he has changed the dressing room.

City had a warm up room for home and away teams. Hughes got rid of the away team warm up room and turned it into a home team player lounge. Why should we give the away team an advantage we don't get when we are away.

Some of our players have flourished under his stricter training regime. Ireland, for example. And I think we will see the benefits of this more so, in the second half of the season.

He is competent and articulate when dealing with the press, always sticks up for his players, and I am always happier after reading and interview of his than I was before I read it.

He has hit some snags, with some weird substitutions and tactical decisions, but I think that was more to do with finding out players limits and capabilities.

I honestly think he is the right man for the job and he is single minded enough to take us where we want to go.

Can I ask why it's not right to believe the 'rumour', leaks and 'media bollocks' about people not liking Hughes and his training methods but it's ok to do exactly the same thing about Sven and run down his regime (in the hope of absolving Hughes of responsibility for the squad) on exactly the same thing?

Seems a bit like double standards.

If, at the end of the season, Hughes has a team with a strong league position and good morale then I will be all for him staying. (Although with our squad and money spent it's not exactly something to shout about).

That's because I judge on evidence and what's achieved. As I do at the moment when he has produced rubbish and nothing but talk of unrest in the camp and I therefore say he hasn't done anything that we expected from him and could not argue if he were sacked (and anyone who says they expected the current unrest, results and league position at the start of the season is a liar - yes, a liar).

Yet all I see from the Hughes 'in' camp is the turning of a blind eye to the many on and off field negtives, the bigging up of the one or two on pitch positives, along with a blind faith that he'll get us into the top half eventually (which he fucking well should with his transfer budget and players he has).

Why the blind faith?

I'm not dealing in rumours, I'm dealing in facts substantiated by first team players who train under Hughes ever day.

That's very big of you...surely it goes without saying that if the rest of the season is a roaring success, you, like every other City fan will be delighted.

You don't judge a book until you've finished reading it. You don't judge a game of football until it's over. You don't judge a season until it's over.

And that's where the "Hughes Out" brigade constantly let themselves down. Nobody is turning a blind eye to the negatives, most of the Hughes supporters acknowledge that there have been problems on the field and off...

There's no blind faith involved...just a common sense approach to a new manager at a club in a state of massive re-development...

I think in retrospect we all blindly worshipped Sven, he gave us half a great season and I thank him but Hughes doesnt have much to do to finish higher than him this season in all honesty.

I admit that earlier in the year I had little to no faith in Hughes, and that these players being very upset with him is extremely disturbing. His way of playing football is not the way some of the other players is. The likes of Ireland, Bridge, SWP, Zabs, Kompany and maybe even Bellemy and De Jong seem to play his style. He needs a team that is willing and ready to play the way he wants them to play.

We are in a decent league position right now, and after that Wigan game I would have said everything was looking great, until with what happened with Robinho. I dont know for sure what happened there whether it was Hughes or Kaka's not signing with us... either way It is distrubing. I thought the team looked like a unit against Wigan save Dunne's momentary lapse of sanity. Now though I dont know, we will see against Newcastle I guess.

I will reserve my judgement on his fate until the season is finished. If he is able to improve our position then great! I say keep him, if he is able to attain an 8th place finish or higher. This is a results based game lets face that, he has brought in decent players for us to create a bit of depth for next season. If however he is unable to do so, then I say try to pry Jose from Inter. He is a proven Premier League manager, he did a good job at Chelsea.

If we are unable to do so then the likes of Rikjaard (SP) would be best. Someone who can bring his name to the team and the respect that comes with it.
