Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

What's fake about it exactly? He went in a barber shop in Peterborough the day before with that knife there is a video of it, that photo is just a still image from that video. Clearly fucking unhinged and a video of him drinking some sort of spirit.
i think his right hand might be on backwards....

The debate regarding this particular incident should be about knife crime and knife culture - wherever that takes us. Being overly bothered about misleading tweets on X (or playing left vs right politics) simply plays into the hands of those politicians who would rather have us all sing 'don't look back in anger', whilst pretending this country is as safe as its ever been. There are countries where crime and violence is such that the public have simply become de-sensitised to it. Let's hope we don't become one of those, as unfortunately the violent crime stats for the UK over the last 10 years suggest we're heading towards this.
not sure knife culture comes into play much on this one, wasn't two kids in a park getting in a argument when one pulls a knife, appears to be someone who probably should have been in a institution of some sort or other assuming 'the devil is not going to win' quote is real

that said I cant really remember many (any?) of these kind of incidents in the 70s/80s/90s so something in society seems to have changed

Sigh. Given my family's history of emigrating to this country, I'd probably be one of the first to be deported should mass deporations arrive.

By all means carry on.

So, instead of seeing the tongue-in-cheek nature of my post, you decide to call it one of 'agitation'.

It was a very 'Dax-like' retort.

It's not me that's the 'problem'.

Truly don't understand the hole you keep digging here...?
Oh, I understand! In fact, @idahoblues even made a joke earlier about it.

Britain has reached a funny place.

When I grew up, we had Gangland London with a few tools and The Sweeney trying to keep them under control.

Sadly, since then, things had slowly changed, but that change seems to have gathered pace to the point that young kids are tooling themselves up to go out at night, and notions are attacking members of the public…with increasing frequency.

As others in the thread have said, mental health is a crisis in the UK, without the capacity to help, and the racial, ethnic and religious cauldron is bubbling up, and occasionally over, as a right wing movement seeks to flex its perceived power.

I wonder where all this will be in a few short years and what society will look like.

In contrast, of course, the U.S. has had the “right to bear arms” for nigh on 250 years and we see the devastation that causes on a regular basis. However, there is no “simple” fix like there was after Dunblane or like they enacted in Oz. In the States, the right isn’t going away and we have more guns than people, albeit in a significantly smaller number of homes than one might imagine!

Here is the approximate household gun ownership rate by state (overall households owning at least one gun):
• Montana: 66.3%
• Wyoming: 66.2%
• Alaska: 64.5%
• Idaho: 60.1%
• West Virginia: 58.5%
• Alabama: 55.5%
[RED STATES]
And so forth, with the lowest being around 14.7% in Massachusetts and New Jersey.
[BLUE STATES]

However, 30% of households appear to possess more than 5 guns, with about 4% of gun owners (about 4 million people) owning more than 10 guns.

Yes, we have a problem…

How? When I hold a weapon like that my thumb can be on the outside.

Using a random account to show the footage but you tell me if you think it's fake or not now.

from the still that you replied to it looked very much like it was a left hand (the knuckles coming over the top) but from the vid you shared the knife is clearly in his palm of his right and some weird video distortion occasionally blends his fingers and creates an odd image. What a terrifying bloke. Cant imagine this shit.

I just thought they were his pip joints on his fingers and he's holding it with his thumb on the outside instead. Everyone is paranoid of AI now especially on hands as that's what it normally struggles with I guess. Just annoying when clowns like that Don McGowan say things with such confidence but don't know their arse from their elbow.

Something definitely mentally unstable about this bloke. It is a miracle he hasn’t actually killed anybody yet.
Yeah, a few reports that Williams is a paranoid schizophrenic known to police and known to the people of Peterborough. Will wait for further info on that, but the lads in the barbers CCTV footage seem to calm down once they establish it's him? Or, at least, they're acting like they don't want to escalate the situation or fight, based on them sort of collectively going "Shit! Oh, it's Anthony again, let's see if we can just calm this down and get him out".

There's a similar type of character on my local high street. He's definitely not all there, and has slipped out of the bottom of the care system that's meant to look after him. Always out, never seems to have a fixed address or a home or a family, permanently high on something. Most of the time he's alright, he's just a bit of a strange character, but he has been known to start harassing shoppers and shouting at people in the street on his bad days.

Everyone knows who he is - he just has a nickname he goes by - and everyone knows you probably shouldn't talk to him. If he's acting a bit strange, you just avoid eye contact and keep moving. If he starts to engage you, just try to calm him down or keep walking on your way. Police and social services have tried to deal with him a few times but he always ends up back where he started, hovering between the Co-op and the newsagents, shouting.

Our memory isn't the best gage. So much has changed, including access to information and statistics, immediate and constant reporting, and as such our awareness of it. All depends on where too, places like Glasgow and others will have been far worse in those years than now, even with recent rises etc.

It may or may not be him, but Look at the hands. looks like 2 left hands and the hand holding the knife in a pretty impossible position causing a very AI feel to it, could also be really shit compression mind you.

time will tell if this is him or just someone putting out a random video.

Edit: BBC now picking up this picture so it will have been verified.

Has Britain hit a funny place or are bots and misinformation flooding social media telling people it has? Gang culture in City's has risen for sure but I don't recognise what I see on social media as the same as what I see walking about.

even 35 years ago there were kids in my school with knives, blades and bats. very rarely translated into anything mind you.

There absolutely are bad actors on social media trying to whip up shit in the UK, trying to make it seem worse than it is and im 100% convinced Russia is doing a lot of it.

As well as Russia there is plenty of shit-stirring coming from within the UK of course.

No mention of the fact that this maybe a mental health incident and that we need to invest in these services. It has seemingly very similar echoes to the one that happened in Nottingham

It didn't come across as 'terrorism' to me. It just seemed so... unplanned? Well, in my mind, anyway. usually these people attack until they take an unfortunate life, not just move on quickly to someone else.

That's what I thought anyway, from original impressions, even though you get influenced by others opinions on possibilities.

One near Asda, Hurst Cross - walks up and down the pavement all day shouting aggressively at cars pretending to film with his phone. If you smile at him he smiles back winking …. He’s nuts and disappears for weeks then reappears . Care in the community I suppose ?
