He hasn't used his depression as a reason for his behaviour. He hasnt said anything at all. And nobody knows if he has done anything wrong yet anyway (whatever wrong means). If the untruthful Sun article has triggered a mental health episode then it's not an excuse for anything, it's just a reaction to their behaviour towards him (and potentially on top of the distress that comes with having been in the closet for decades)

Nailed it Mon Autre. A willingness to understand rather than a constant urge to condemn would certainly be welcome. There again, if someone can't even spell the name 'Schofield', you can't really expect reasoned debate. Oops, I should really be more understanding. ; )

The Schofield thread was pulled and cleaned up a number of times. Also the public were pretty much given the full facts of that case (from Schofield's own interviews) so posters were given a freer reign to comment where as with this case the details haven't come out so we Mods have to be more cautious as to what can / cannot be written and remain on the thread.

Schofield also struggled with his mental health and was coming out as gay when he was outed, also no law broken but he got a much harder time than this guy is getting

Kaz, are you suggesting you tried older men ??? ;-) Well in essence you make a valid point..the real question is ,is he depressed because he fucked up and private life became public, or was he depressed which made him act inappropriately ??As for the Sun , well I would assume they would have done due diligence in such a massive case. I would be very wary of making absolutely any conclusions at all today. Far too early. In time the truth will out.

It looks like The Sun have done the opposite of that to be fair. They went back on what they published very quickly

So, every person with depression acts or behaves in the same manner or there are varying degrees of depression, some mild, some, much, much, much worse.
Depression is never a one size fits all

Reading between the lines on this the wording of his wife’s statement leads me to think he’s been sectioned after self harm - you simply don’t go in to hospital for inpatient treatment for the foreseeable future just because you’re depressed.

Obviously can’t say for sure but probably best to not get into depression/mental health top trumps.

There isn’t any information other than what she put in the statement.

It’s actually far more likely that he is in a private hospital and has already gone there on several occasions previously to treat his long standing clinical depression during severe lows.

There are absolutely varying degrees of depression but that is not where i want to go thanks
