Hyde Road Stadium

Hyde Road’s last League game was City v Newcastle. Here’s a piece on that including some of the match programme for that game:

Sorry if this is already posted. I think pics of hyde road are like rocking horse shit as they were destroyed in the fire. Never seen this before
FA Cup 7th March 1914 if I’ve googled correctly. Finished 0-0. Went to their place a few days later and ended 0-0 in the first replay. Lost to a solitary goal in the second replay at Villa Park on the 16th. 4th round was a quarter final in those days.

Edit: the opponent was Sheff U according to the caption at the bottom.

I cycled around Cowes Street and the surrounding area. I couldn't see the Aces pub or Thomas Street, where I was led to believe there is a plaque marking City's inception. I found photos online but nothing there.

Do you know if there is anything at Kirkmanshulme Lane or elsewhere? Thanks

The Aces was knocked down years ago.to make way for new housing.

Martin Zero has done a video series walking in the Cornbrook culvert starting from where it joins the Manchester ship canal (or the Irwell as it did) all the way upstream to where it starts and is open, in West Gorton.
This episode, number 5, starts at Bennett Street on the site of the old Hyde Road football ground.
You can fast forward to around 7 mins 15 seconds to the City / Ardwick bit
