Hyde United

Went today after following their progress from a distance so far this season.

Won 3-2, their seventh league win on the spin, thanks to an injury time penalty. Good afternoon out and will definately do it again more often. Just over 600 there which was about 250 up on their usual crowd.

Definately a good afternoon out when City arent playing on the same day, especially with good old standing on the terraces!!!

a lot of the older (than me at least) blues on here talk about how they used to go and watch county when city weren't playing I would love it if that could be transfered to hyde now what with all our links be great to see my local team do well and recieve great support, i've not been able to go to a match yet because i work awful hours but as soon as a monday/tuesday game comes up im there (as long as city aren't playing)

you know hyde could be playing in the same division as stockport next year, imagine saying that just a few years ago... my mum always used to joke city would end up playing in the same division as hyde one day

5 goal thriller in the soggy rain of Hyde - brilliant and I am sure everyone attached to Hyde (properly - I just go now and then) would love to say thanks for making it a great day.

I agree with the comment about the ref - there were 3 or 4 incidents where he should have AT LEAST produced a yellow, and because he didn't it escalated.

Absolutely cracking penalty at the end - to make it 7 in 7.

There were definitely a lot more light blue shirts there than United tops :)

Don't forget the EDS team will be playing at Barca, Celtic and Marseille there in the coming weeks.

There is another Non League day in October when their are no PL fixtures

Had a great day today. Arrived at about 1pm and waited around for the chap to find the keys to open the turnstile. Duly paid our £5 each to the vertically challenged fellow and into the clubhouse we went. £2.70 a pint with the added bonus of taking your pint onto to the terraces. Quality pie at £1.70 too.

Shout of the day from the "singing section" was "show us where you piss from" to pretty young blonde walking past.

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. On a strictly personal level, I cant join in the singing with the continued references to the team formerly being United and the occasional chant of U-N-I-T-E-D etc. Funny chants re the Harrogate physio though!!

Went there today too. As non league footballers, they are very fortunate to be able to play on a surface like that. Nothing between the two sides in the first half. Hyde's passing game in the second half was good and got the late penalty. Some bizarre characters there!!

Great game was taken back to my childhood. Music at the start is exactly the same, 'tiger feet' an 'eye of the tiger'.

Decent burger at £2.

The game was not bad an alll, some great passing movements. First goal was a beast! Dissapointed Spencer didnt play apparently he was injured, however heard a few of the Hyde faithfull talking about other clubs sniffing around him.

All in all a great day!

As there is no City game this weekend I thought I'd take the opportunity to let you guys know that Hyde FC are at home this weekend.

I believe the players normally drop in for a pint (of lemonade) after the game too.

As the official Hyde FC wesbite is down for maintenance I just wanted to add some details for those thinking of attending.

Hyde are unbeaten in the league - and have honestly been playing some cracking football for the league they are in.

Normal admission is £10 - but if you have a City season ticket it's half price this weekend

Kids are £2.

The closest train station is Newton for Hyde - it costs £3.30 adult return from Piccaddilly - it's a 10 minute walk from the station to the ground (Trains are normally from Platform 2 - depart at 13.18, 13.48 & 14.18 - train takes about 15minutes)

Where the B on the map is you cut up a 'steep private road' between two houses.

You can also get the bus from Piccadilly - the 201 stops at about point B on the picture above (bus takes about 45 minutes)

They have a social club so you can have a drink before and after the match - a pint costs about £2.70 for lager (not sure about bitter), and burgers are about £2

They are also having racing night after the game for anyone who wants to stay around and make an eve of it :)

-- Thu Oct 06, 2011 7:26 pm --

EDIT

The new Hyde FC website has just been launched (ignore the red lol) - directions from here

Great game today, some really good football played, finished 1-1 thought Hyde deserved to win it the ball just wouldn't go in the net! Stood in the Shed end, cheap pie at half time, streaker and lots of laughs. Proper football day out!

Streaker!!! ha ha ha - male or female (and if female, any pictures???)
what was the crowd?

Was a good crowd yesterday considering the weather.

Good to more City tops and jackets than United - but then it's difficult for them to travel so far to watch some non league football.

I'm making plans for Bishop's Stortford away. Being an exiled Blue in Norwich doesn't help.
