Basically an online course that's open to as broad a range of people as possible (Massive Open Online Course). Lots of the big Universities do them as part of their broader remit/social outreach. Some of them are just the videos of course lectures that they make available to the public along with the expected course work/materials. Others are specifically designed to be delivered online.
