Rightly or wrongly, if you are arrested in a football related incident then you can be given a football banning order regardless of where the offence took place. If the powers that be have decided that an incident involving football fans on their way home from a game is football related then the club can and in this case have decided to ban them, subject to a letter of appeal.
Instead of the OP and others trying to blame those that feel the behaviour of those involved in the theft was poor, perhaps they would be better off looking at the behaviour of some of their friends.

I can see a huge difference in age between both of you and as such i can see how your views will differ.

TFS a 22 year old whipper snapper and fcuking mad for it....

Law74 an older gentleman who's very mature and finds the above behaviour dispicable :O)

Im not saying its right :O)

but nor is it right the club issuing suspensions/bans.

I would agree that from what has been reported on here banning all those on the bus is OTT, banning those that were guilty of theft iwould have no problems with, though maybe a two game ban for a first offence would be enough, let them know that such behaviour isnt acceptable.

I just don't see how the club can call people to account who weren't actually charged with anything.

Interesting new twist for those of us that attend away matches..."guilty by association."

coach had nothing to do with the club, everyone had to give their details down at the police station, so i can only presume the club have asked the police for all the names and details of those on the bus which for me can't be legal as OP said 30+ were not charged with anything so police should not be handing out names of people not charged

Even those who have been charged should not face any punishment from city, as it has fuck all to do with them.

I think you're looking at it the long way round. The police may have well told the club to suspend the relationships with those under investigation - as the probable penalty if proven guilty is a ban from football grounds in general + fine, I am thinking.

It works in the same way, as with people being kept in detention whilst pending a prison sentence.

The only unreasonable pricks here are the people stealing and condoning stealing.

As for class, the vast majority of decent working class people are not in favour of theft either. My family are working class and they have stolen anything or wished to.

Ffs get a life and get down off your high horse. They didn't rob a bank and no-one was hurt. It was probably just a pissed mistake the likes of which most of us have done at some point in our lives.

Wouldn't an apology suffice or do you want blood?

In my experience shopkeepers do not refuse service for no reason whatsoever.

Maybe those that believe that he refused to sell them beer could have another think about why he might have refused service.

Was he intimidated? Did he feel threatened? Were the actions of those in the shop offensive in some way?

I don't know, but I do know that "no reason at all" is extremely unlikely.

The biggest mountain out of a molehill I've ever heard of.

"Our own fans are disgusted by it". Maybe a few conservative minded bores on this forum, but I bet there are thousands of respectable City fans who don't really care. It sounds to me like the shopkeeper was being an unreasonable prick, the police were typically over the top and now the club are being exactly the same. Banning loyal fans over something so pathetic which was away from the stadium is just way over the top. I don't want City to turn into a respectable middle class only supported club where you get banned for having over two units of alcohol inside you, but I have serious fears that it is going to go this way in the coming years.

Was that a Freudian slip or do they nick to order?
