I Love Balotelli

Everyone keeps harping on about talent, but I've not seen anything that special that makes him stand out from other young strikers over the years. Owen, Rooney, Fowler, etc...were all better at the same age.

If you've not seen anything that makes him special then you must have missed a game in trafford this season where we beat a team 6-1. Derby day at one of the toughest places to go and that 21 year old boy was the difference. You might also want to compare his goal scoring record to other strikers of his age.

The players you mention there were also top players at 21 - different players mature at different times. Mario really isn't far from being a top player either, all he needs to do is grow up and focus because talent wise he's got the lot

1 game where he has shone. I can't remember many more.

He has 17 goals this season.....Welbeck has 10....Sturridge has 12. Mario is at an advantage because he takes our penalties. Ok, so he still has to score them, but those other 2 would be on a similar / greater number had they taken all of their teams penalties too.

So basically Mario is the highest scoring young striker in the league by quite a margin?

Out of 3 ? Hardly anything to shout about.

He also has more than double the amount of yellow / red card in 39 appearances than the 144 appearances of those 2 combined.

I honestly blame the media witch hunt. From day 1 it started. Poor bloke, for people who say he loves the attention are very narrow minded.

The U.K media is a disgrace.

He creates this by being a dick.

You were the one to choose only 3. I said to compare his goal scoring record to other strikers his age, why don't you compare him against some more if you don't think 3 is enough?

Yellow and red cards wasn't the point. The point was that you were claiming not to have seen anything special about him. I'm not disputing that his discipline is very poor

-- Tue Apr 10, 2012 11:00 am --

Some people here are like abused women, they hang on no matter what.

And some people are ready to throw their toys out of the pram the second there is a problem..with fans like these who needs rivals?

Managing a club and its players takes a lot of hard work to inculcate the team spirit we all crave. Throwing people out the moment something bad happens would result in not having enough players to fill the squad roster..hmm, you know, I thought I saw Silva shaking his head once at being subbed, we should go and fine him for dissent..

We all knew how Balotelli was even before he signed for us. We all knew he was bonkers. So, acting surprised and indignant at what happened, is frankly strange..Mancini believed he could tame him, but obviously has not been able to..

If anything, my opinion is Mancini is both morally and directly to blame for this fiasco..he and his stubbornness..accompanied by strange tactics..Even I knew Balotelli should have been substituted by half-time. If he didn't like Tevez, Mancini should have brought Dzeko on..
He should have laid down the law for Balotelli a long time ago. If he hadn't been given preferential treatment, the rest of the team would not have practically revolted...Mancini should have treated Balotelli the same way he treated Tevez..Then maybe, just maybe, Balotelli would stop acting like a spoilt kid, and work hard to earn the good reputation he so badly craves..To see Joe Hart, of all people, ranting means something has seriously gone wrong within the club..

This is a period of introspection before the next game. Set up a meeting, talk to the players, let them air out their honest grievances, find ways to resolve these issues, and inspire the players to raise their game and play out of their skins for the club, and not just for themselves. Forgive me for being an eternal optimist, but this season is not over yet..

To those saying Balotelli could be the best in the world. I'll give you one fact, Leo Messi is 24.He is 2-4 years from his peak, and already he is in another plane of existence to Balotelli. Not the say that Balotelli is not very good, he is, but get some perspective please.

Lol at comparing Mario to Messi. Can anyone ever match Messi? One of a kind..

Why not compare Mario to CRonaldo? One of World's great yeah?
He's 27 now, according to Wiki, at 21 years old (2005-2006), he played 47 matches and scored 12 goals.
Rooney, the resident bad boy to compare with, scored 23 goals in 55 matches in 2006-2007.

In comparison, Mario has scored 17 in 31 matches despite all the bans, and squad rotation, this season...Conversely, you can also dredge up statistics showing another player who was once a star at 21, but who then went on to become a dud..

So, in effect, stop jumping to conclusions and say he can never be a great in the future. Of course, it's only if he wants to..and he knows the hard work that needs to be done to become one..

I don't understand how any can argue against his talent, he's an excellent player.
Even in the Arsenal game he was unlucky not to get himself a couple of goals, if he had properly timed that overhead kick he'd be a hero right now... actually probably not, he scored 2 against sunderland and was still made the bluemoon scapegoat.

The only problem is the way he acts, not his talent.

Becuase there aren't that many strikers of that age....certainly not that play for comparable teams. No point in comparing him to young strikers in teams fighting for relegation for example...or teams in other leagues for that matter.
